Default I'm Level 90, Yay! Now what?

Recently hit level 90 on my Berserker, thanks to double exp weekend. However, I'm a bit lost on what the progression normally is from here. Clearly, my questing and leveling is far from done (I hit 90 with only 210 AA) but outside of this I'm fairly uncertain.

I'm looking at doing public quests, since the equipment I can get from there is better than what I currently use (lvl 86 Othmir quested). At some point I'd like to get some Velium shards, but the only 5 I have I gained from the cross server event. Better weaponry is going to be an important focus at some point as well (why did I make my first character a weaponsmith again?)

I'm a casual player, so I'm not sure what is out of reach or even what I should be waiting for. I'm still getting over the fact leveling my Defiler and Dirge just got 20% easier! So any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

PQ gear, in between them do dov instance for shards and the gems that drop which you can later have someone make into the ry'gor armor. Each gem makes a different piece of armor you only need one per piece but you need to have someone refine them for you. The emeralds and black marbles are common enough but the rubys diamonds and i think they are called citrines? are a little more difficult to come by. Usually trash drops in the kael instances i see the citrines then the rubys and diamonds from namers. The armor is pretty decent especially if your not raiding. The final named in Spire and Zek are very good if your looking for a bp since i dont think there are any recipes for rygor bp's. Good luck and you probably posted this in the wrong section.

Edit: ps you'll need about 20 velium per rygor piece

PQs will give you the 6 main slots. Continue to quest at Snowfang Gnolls, then Thurgadin, then move to the Eastern Wastes and quest for the Ry'Gorr and the other camp of Gnolls there to upgrade the rest of your gear.

You'll need Thurgadin faction to do the daily solo Velium shard quest. And you'll need Ry'Gorr faction to buy their Yellow and Red adornments.

Crafters actually make useful stuff these days, via dropped patterns. But they drop so rarely, you'll probably get your upgraded weapons, charms, cloaks, etc. from running dungeons.

Check out The EQ2 Wire -- EverQuest II News & Commentary and click the "Velious Armor Guide" on the upper right. It has a full writeup on the crafted/faction gear in Velious. That's not all the gear of course, as each dungeon drops a few items too, but it will help you get started. Pools is by far the easiest zone so you'll probably spend some time there. Don't forget the quest 'The Immortal Pest'.

Well, I would say one problem is having your first level 90 character as a berserker actually limits your options. You are a tank class, and people will expect you to be the tank. There is an inherent assumption that you know HOW to tank, how to complete each zone, where to pull each mob and keep things under control. I strongly recommend that players new to EQ2 not make their first character to 90 be a fighter class but a scout. A scout has somewhat of a similar fighting style, but can hang back, observe the zones and watch what the tank does. I run a zone a few times with my ranger before I even dream of trying to tank it with my monk.

But of course you could get lucky and be in a guild with patient players who will help you and explain all of the aspects of tanking.

Well, you're on AB, so role play in the taverns until you get to rub one out to some dude pretending to be a hot ogre chick.

Thanks, this was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. A few clarifications: the Othmir gear I have is actually from all the questlines taking me into Thurgadin (including having the gnoll portions finished); I had stopped at that point because the quests had become... well, not impossible, but I still had questlines to finish in Stonebrunt Highlands and damn if they weren't easier. I hadn't thought of the faction issue however, and made it a point to go back and grab some more of those.

Any particular ones a weaponsmith can use? I have the two books you can get from Far Seas Supply Faction, but as far as 90+ gear that's it. :c Thanks for the guide, btw.

I choose Berserker for it's ease in soloing (I'm not very good on my Defiler, it would seem, and my dirge handles adds about as well as I handle coming up with delightful and amusing analogies) and I'm running into the exact problem you've mentioned: I'm a tank now, and not some sort of offtank/dps highbrid. Good thing I have a mirror so I can set up a tank AA build, because my current build didn't account for that much at all. Just have to take it slowly. Fortunately, nobody has invited me to a thing and then expected me to run it yet.

Pretty sure the upgrades I'm looking for are No Trade so that won't work. Already the right race for it though. "Look at my wings! Want to touch them?" Yes. Yes they do. But I doubt I'll get any decent gear out of it. And in a game where people are used to walking up to a mob and killing it for it's loot, I'd hate to see what would happened if I tried this approach, got the wrong attention, and couldn't shake the aggro.

Way I see it, progression goes quested, then PQ, then hold of rime gear, then rygorr.

My advice is to skip the thurg gear, as it costs more where as the rygorr is better, and is cheaper (gems are dropping in price rapidly now for them). 20 shards, per piece of rygorr armour.

Run ascent when it is the DD or HZ. That gives really fast shards and some great bows aswell as jewellery/cloaks. I think also a fighter shield.

PQs will give you some basic adorns. I suggest the damage reduction one, and then anti stuns/manas for the rest of your slots. AoE is worthless to a zerker.

All the hold of rime zones have a chance for a fabled crafting drop at the end. This can be made by crafted with 40k thurg faction into fabled items, like jewellery, weps, cloaks etc. If you can get them, get them, have them turned into armour. But remember, some people just need them to sell.

Welcome to 90. Run PQs and grind out the entry level instances- Shadowed Corridors, Forgotten Pools, and Ascent.
