Default Returning to the game and need some help.

So I've played EQ2 about 6months ago and played most of the classes. I'm planning on coming back, and starting fresh because after such a long break I've forgotten the strategy of playing. I was wondering what changes have occurred to the classes and such, and what would be your opinions on what would be the better class to select? I would like to play a good solo dps, non pet class. Which I'm assuming is either a swash or a brawler class. What do you guys think would be a good class.

If soloing is your main plan I would go with a brawler type. Really, it all depends on your play style and what you would enjoy playing.

Indeed, it depends mostly on what you want to do in the long run, what role you want for yourself if you plan on doing anything in a group situation... or what class looks cool to you, Brawler is the king of soloing for none pet classes. Though its hard to find a spot in a raiding guild as one. Swashie can solo perfectly fine, just requires a bit more .. moving, were as brawler allows you to FD past see invis mobs ect, gank named and FD off the adds. Wizards also solo extremly well for a none pet class. Dosn't hurt being able to two shot orange mobs. :P

For my two bits, I would take a brawler and a rogue to lvl 15 or 20 and see what you think of the mechanics. I have a monk I break out every now and again for kicks, but I can't get enough of the rogues. I have a Brigand in t8 and a Swash in t7.

Rogues ftw because...

1) DPS is none-too-shabby
2) Marginal tanking ability w/chain armor
3) Invis without losing power or mobility
4) Maxing out INT line gives you FD - very useful when Invis won't work and has a 30 sec duration with 60 sec recast
5) Speed buff with Pathfinding - add a totem and jboots, throw in a *meep meep* and you're all set
6) Safe fall makes for creative use of hills and towers (although brawlers get this, too)
7) Shift your own HOs

I just came back from some time off, as well, but I believe all of the above still holds true. Shoot me a tell in game if you're thinking of going with a rogue and I'll be more than happy to shoot the shit with you.

EDIT: I need to start checking date/timestamps before I reply to posts...
