Re: Warhammer, Age of Reckoning
My brother was saying that if you "kill" someone in PvP, you can take trinkets from them and hang them on your armor.
I'm not a PvPer, but that sounds pretty cool.

Huh, that does sound interesting. Like make a tooth necklace or something? ;) Makes me wonder what kind of trinkets. Your armor would only have so much space I would think.

On the day we signed the agreement to license Warhammer from Games Workshop, I promised them that we would create a great and glorious game, a truly next-generation MMORPG. Today, I have news to report; we are going to delay the release of WAR until Fall 2008. While we do not expect this announcement to be met with fanfare and cheering crowds; the additional time will be spent hammering WAR into an even better game that it is today.
During the most recent phase of beta testing, two things have become clear. One was that our key innovations - Public Quests, Tome of Knowledge and Realm vs. Realm combat - were all coming along extremely well, as was the first stage of our innovative crafting system. The second, that the game would benefit from additional iteration time as well as adding a layer of polish or two. Fortunately, as part of Electronic Arts, we are able to do just that.
While I have no doubt that the community will experience a wide range of emotions over this decision, I urge you to remember one thing (and to keep the tar cold and the feathers on the birds), that our goal has never been to release a game by a certain date but to release a great Warhammer MMORPG. We have not wavered from this goal and with the full support of Games Workshop, GOA and Electronic Arts we intend to release a glorious next-generation MMORPG.
As always, I thank the community for its support, patronage and its patience.

Electronic Arts has announced that PC MMORPG Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning won't be released until the autumn.
News of the delay was revealed this morning by producer Jeff Hickman. He was speaking at a press conference in Paris attended by the editor of Eurogamer's brand new MMO channel.
It's not the first time the game's release date has been pushed back. Warhammer Online was originally due out in Q1 of this year, but that was shifted to Q2. At the time, EA Mythic boss Mark Jacobs said the delay would allow the studio to "invest additional time and effort in implementation and polish to make WAR great".
It seems even more investment is required, as Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is now due for a "fall" release.
Expect a full report on how it's shaping up soon.

Back in the 90's I played on a MUD called valhalla where you could take your PVP enemy's decapitated head to a bowling alley. Depending on your roll, prizes would result.

Re: Warhammer, Age of Reckoning
First off, Kudos to Mythic for trying to find a balance between "Polished Game" and "Never gonna come out" it's a tough gambit in the industry these days.
Dry, in the MUD I used to play on, Realms of the Dragon, you could decapitate your PVP kills, and buy a pole and mount the head on it. Except it wasn't called PVP back then, but PK, or Player Killing.
Day 1: Decapitated Head of Soandso mounted on a Pole.
Day 2: Rotten Head of Soandso mounted on a Pole.
(Flies buzzing around the room were encoded in the Programming at this point.)
Day 5: Swiftly Decomposing Head of Soandso mounted on a Pole.
(Flies in this room and programming for "Flies buzz out of the room to the East/North Whatever for any adjacent rooms, Nice You smell something awful wafting from the /direction of the mounted skull here too.)
Day 7: Skull of Soandso mounted on a Pole. (I had several of these mounted in my GM Quarters of the Ranger Guild hall)

Re: Warhammer, Age of Reckoning
I'm waiting on WAR myself, signed up for beta ages ago, got the open beta key for pre-ordering if nothing else (5 bucks to see if its worth buying later seems worth it heh) EQ1 was my 1st MMO and it always holds a place in your heart because it was the 1st. But DAoC was just as sweet but for completely different reasons. I had an absolute blast there so I'm all about trying to capture that feeling to a degree again. The quest system that recognizes that' you've already killed shit is pretty hot, but I'm mostly all about leveling completely off pvp. Any time I can get loot, xp, and money strictly off PVP I'm in, especially if its implemented in anyway like DAoC where it was a blast even when it sucked. AoC has boobies and blood, so does the rest of the internet Just doesn't really grab me I guess. Although I'd like em to polish the models in WAR just a bit more, I can live with the cartoony if the game play is good.
