As for EQ2 graphics they couldn't hold AoC's jock strap. I personally don't like the game for several reasons, but the graphics can't be touched by any MMO out.... not even close lol.

Yes, i've seen trak's lair on high settings. Yeah, a few of the boss models like trak could use some more detail in EQ2, but the game overall (overland zones, dungeon models, etc) looks great when run on max detail. I'm just tired of people crapping on EQ2's graphics ("couldn't hold AoC's jock strap"... are you fucking serious lol?) when they're actually quite good. And if you consider that they HAVE been this good all along since release in 2004 (just unplayable on most systems then), that's pretty impressive too. SoE saw the longevity of EQ1 and went into EQ2 with a forward-looking approach to design.

Playing this game in 2560x1600 with max settings and AA/AF turned on is a pretty impressive MMO gaming experience. If they fixed some issues with UI rendering my framerate would be absolutely silky smooth on raids with 30+ models on screen too.

Post some of your absolute max quality AoC screenshots, and I'll post some max quality EQ2 ones, and we can see who's jockstrap is where. I'm not saying EQ2 is the pinnacle of graphical excellence, but aside from a few underdeveloped boss models it's certainly right up there with anything else. And if they expected more than 0.1% of the subscriber population to ever even see mobs like Trakanon, they'd probably spend more time on that model, eh? =)

The fact that a game released 4 years ago is being graphically compared in any aspects to a game releasing in 2008 is impressive enough for the 2004 game. Yeah and did you hear that the graphics in Crysis totally own Doom 3? :p


Comes down to gameplay anyway, graphics are totally meaningless. On some of my favorite games I purposely washed the graphics into lego-mode to improve my gameplay.
