I have an intel pent 4 3.0 ghz, 3gigs memory, radeon x1900. Do i got a shot to run the game or am I wasting me time?

AoC is murder on your comp. That comp will burn trying to play aoc at anything other than low settings. A lot of people are having trouble with ATI cards especially.

I have a few mates who play on the same rigs as yours. You wont be able to play on high settings, but medium settings are ok.

And on pretty much everything high, except AA, I pull consistant 30-45 fps depending. I RARELY drop under that.

Atm i play on a P4 3.4Ghz , ATI X800XT with 2 gigs of RAM (waiting for new box in a few weeks)

I had a black screen problem at first, seems to be a problem with older cards, see here for the solution:

I play fine on low/medium settings (30+ fps in dungeons, 15 fps in big cities). You should be ok i think.

AMD Dual Core 2.4, 4 GB RAM, 8800 GT superclocked. 70+ fps in instances, 30-50 fps in cities and zones.

My comp is a little dated but on low settings I am usualy up at 30 fps except in tortage i drop down to around 20. I havent grouped at all but should I expect a similar drop in performance when fighting with a few more people?

AMD XP 3000 Barton, 2 gigs ram and a Nv 6800 GT video card.
I play on medium settings which oddly gets me much more fps then low.
Still average 25 fps or so in towns, 20-30 in the outdoor lands and 30-40 in instances.
This is around other players but not been around a large mass of them yet.

(should have been last Friday. Don't get me started on UPS, or the "United Package Smashers", as I referr to them)

Based on what I hear, DX10 is only available in Vista, so I'l S.O.L. there since I'm using XP64 Pro.
Is the difference between DX9 and DX10 so vast that it's worth the money for 64bit Vista?
I hear the performance differences between the OSes tend to favor XP so I'm hesitant to buy Vista, especially since I don't want to Dual Boot between Vista and XP.
(My last experience in throwing Vista on this machine in a Dual Boot configuration ate my raid array and XP64 install, so it's an all-or-nothing proposition for me. I prefer to stay on XP as long as possible)

DX10 in AoC isn't available till a patch this winter.
