Default Guild Wars 2

Now I know Guild Wars wasn't something extremely popular amongst MMO players especially people who played EQ2. However, I gotta wonder who's going to be interested in ArenaNets extremely original game concept as it rises up to MMO levels in its sequel.

Not much has been released about the game but it sounds like its going to be Shadowbane and World of Warcraft done better.

Beta testing looks like its going to be done in late 2008 and Arenanet is keeping most if not everything about the game under wraps for the time being but what is known is this:

- Almost fully interactive enviroment
- Alleged endless leveling system
- Instance story line playing
- The player choices will impact the world as a whole, triggering or disabling quests based on their in-game actions and those of their fellow players*
- An in-game world in which players of all levels compete in continuous pvp (while also offering organized arena based pvp and safe zones)
- A reverse mentoring system where players of a higher level can allow a "sidekick" to accompany them as 1 level lower than their leader.

The game like its prior will have no monthly fees ever. I know Guild Wars wasn't exactly tasteful for most people especially people with very little patience of a small attention span. The game itself is extremely pvp oriented, however it offers a storyline/campaign that many would argue is far more interesting than most MMO PvE.

Anyone else following this game with hope? Arenanet didnt let me down the first time and I'm hoping they dont the second either. They really did produce quality over quantity that doesn't attract that "ganker" and "spawn camper" personas. Organized PvP of its degree really set apart the boys from the men and personally I think it left a lot of butthurt self proclaimed "pvpers" going back to WoW.

Well I can thank the original for getting me into MMO's so I'm not going to disregard it. I played through the first three and loved every minute of it. Hell they even capped levels at 20 and still the interest remained. There was very rarely a problem with servers or lag and any faults were quickly dealt with. My first few months in EQ was quite often spent complaining about downtimes and daft faults that if in GW would be sorted rapidly. And all this for no monthly subscription.

Now please don't make me out as some fanboi as I haven't touched GW for a good year now but I can honestly say that they seem to run a tight ship and all content was fully enjoyed by myself.

The game itself was also one of the best looking I've seen , although this was mainly due to all zones being a closed instance, thus also helping with lag etc. Oh aye and the new "interactive" will be interesting as you can't even jump in the original carnation.

All in all I must say that I will give it a go, as far as I know its still going to be free of any subs so where's the hurt? Mind you I don't think you'll get many more positive comments as it really isn't as "hardcore" as Eq, hell if you couldn't get a group you get just bring your heroes along to help. Plus no raids etc etc. Mind you I did like the 8 skill at any one time restriction and of course that you had a sub class. It was just fun to mess around with builds, and ofc I still miss me old 55 monk

Erm so how long did it take you to think of this comment? And erm why bother?? I honestly fail to see the relevance. I mean don't get me wrong I'm sure you'll put me right, but really.....

Why?

I really do feel your pain as far as raiding goes...but then again raiding is something I can live without...its easily replaced with the more competitive and elite PvP like Guild vs Guild and Heroes Ascent... Fighting a team of 8 people who are going to try and out think you and work cooperatively against your team is more fruitful than raiding a mob with 24 people especially once you've mastered the kill. The one thing I truly enjoy about Guild Wars is how the content of the game is constantly changing and evolving....its the only actual game that has a metagame worth mentioning.

A-Net really DID run a tight ship and thats what I love about them. It's sad when other MMOs piddle in comparison to their dev team and yet ask more of their customers. I don't think its the game so much as it is the Developers though and I'm truly excited to see their next piece of work.

I'm really excited for the regional pvp in which it's free for all....mind you theres no real concept of what they plan to have as rules and limitations I'm still excited to see it.

I love PvP, but couldn't stand Guild Wars. It's so far out, I don't even see the point in taking much of an interest to it when WAR is just over the horizon. To each their own though.
