Default Baldur's Gate 2 question

Was the zone art hand-drawn or pre-rendered from 3-D models?

Don't know but there is a crew working on remaking it using the NWN2 engine. They are doing everything from scripting to loot, to zones.

Is that project still going on? I used to play BGII/ToB mods until 2k2 and iirc the conversion to NW2 started like in 2k2 - 2k3.

last i checked that was BG1 being remade, someone doing 2 as well?
The "Demo" for BG1 was fantastic.

uh Graphics in BG2, I'm going with hand drawn zone art. the game was completely 2D, there was no way to change perspective.
Don't exactly need computer generated models to potray a single point of view.

Never played BG2. Baldur's Gate 1 was pretty amazing.

"Go for the eye Boo! Go for the eyes!"

Once I realized what that was about I really began to appreciate that game more.

True but at some points the art seems a little too clean. The Donkey Kong Country and Killer Instinct series on SNES were pre-rendered 3-D iirc.

That's awesome, it made me realize I got the names wrong the project I was talking about was converting BGII to IWD2 engine which featured the 3rd campaing ruleset, my bad.

I'm pretty much sure the graphics are 2D, it's just too well done and at a nice resolution. BGI is 2D and it got a mod (Tutu iirc) that converts the graphics to BG2's engine, no 3D involved.

BG1 was great the first time, feels very barren and unsophisticated the second time.
