Ok, so after yet another premature launch, it appears AoC is going down the shitter. So how about we start taking notice of a game which actually looks like it's going to be fucking amazing?

Aion: The Tower of Eternity - New Fantasy MMORPG by NCsoft check out the class videos for an idea of how it'll look and feel. There's also a load of fansites where you can see in game videos from the CBT, including some really fun looking PvP city invasions. The class list isn't final as I understand it and the game is still in CBT in Korea only.

The EU/US betas will be announced shortly and the OBT should be at the same time in Korea, EU and US. But NCSoft are not rushing this one, so in order to get the translation and any other issues sorted we may see the EU/US release slightly later than the Korean release.

If you're looking for a game with complex classes, involving combat and a look at feel not too unlike EQ2, I think this could actually end up being the one. The combo element of the combat system reminds me of the one good thing about vanguard also. Aion will have a huge amount of endgame raiding content and the most interesting and exciting PvP I've heard of yet.

I cba to write any more. Go read up on it yourselves but ffs don't just look at the official site.

I'd be surprised if vanguard is amazing to anyone.. Well, except maybe that tribe in Brazil that is still completely cut off from civilisation. They might be briefly entertained by it.. But before you know it, even spear waving painted red man has smudged 'FUCKSOE' on his belly.

I know Aion won't get a big reception here. It's too... well... Asian. But it really does look nice. The combat system looks sleek and engaging, the levelling is apparently free from linear boring crap and the PvP looks just amazing. That word again, but it really does sound good.

I'm looking forward to my gf and I making an Asmodian Assassin tag team to go fuckup the Elyos carebears.

Actually I was caught up in the hype at the time too. I wanted a game that was basically EQ1mk2 and EQ2 wasn't it. Was pissed off and bored with EQ2, wanted something perfect to take it's place.

I didn't want to touch AoC. I don't see Funcom as able to deliver something worth getting my teeth into. Seriously though, rather than picking holes in my posts, why not have a look at the Aion fansites and media?
