Re: Vanguard
I still got my 50 warrior on Xeth server ... maybe I'll take a crack at the game again. I quit a long time ago simply because of the lack of end-game content. The game itself was awesome ... great graphics, great combat system, great classes. After doing Rahz Inkur and the lucent medallion medal runs 50 times the game became very repetitive and I just couldn't take it anymore.

Re: Vanguard
When I started playing EQ2, one of the things I hated was not being able to cast spells at shit I wasn't facing, but they eventually patched that out. Hopefully VG does the same.

Yeah, they should hand out mirrors to everyone so they can be like the circus sharpshooters, firing over their shoulders at targets they can't really see. Yeehaw Annie Oakley!

Re: Vanguard
I know when VG came out it took a pretty nice machine to run it.. is this still the case? I heard it runs better now and is not so demanding anymore.. I don't have the cash to buy a new system but want to give it a try. I have 8800gt card and two gigs of ram on a machine that's about 4 years old.
It runs eq2 no problem, and I can raid on it.. I'd love to give VG a try but I don't want to spend the money and time downloading it and then find out it's a slide show..

I'm not looking for realism. I'm looking for mechanics that aren't cumbersome. Being able to a) fire off spells in any direction and b) make autoattack or a combat art swing you in the direction of the mob = comfy.

I run it maxed out at 1920x1200 on:
Q6600
8GB PC2-6400
2x8800GT
Vista Ultimate x64 SP1
I occasionally have some framerate dips, but it runs solid.

You'd be fine, I'm running 2 gigs of ram, an 8600gt, and a P4 dual core 3.4ghz on high quality while raiding.

What other class is actually fun then? I can't seem to decide, and I am having a hard time struggling while I'm wading through the noob areas....they're ridiculously boring.

Necro, Sorc, any tank, healers are generally fun, so is bard, they [pretty much all are alot of fun. I'd say Thestra and Qalia are alot more fun to start on than Kojan, bunch of solo dungeons and more in the general areas, and a really cool dungeon at level 8 called Rift Seekers Torrent on thestra, but really up to you I guess, I just think monk is a really boring class compared to the rest, especially because you start on Kojan.
