Or wait, is the pinnacle of gaming supposed to be the baal bots that are programmed to do solo baal runs ( man they are nice to run with though! )
Or how about when the game even launched where one build completely dominated every other class, the bowazon with max guided arrow + piercing, yes I'm sure to you the pinnacle of gaming must be facing a bowazon only to die due to guided arrow hitting you, piercing you, then hitting you again 3 more times to effectively "one click kill" you.
I'll admit, the second closest build to the above ( pre 1.10 iirc, or maybe even 1.09 ) was the firewall sorc, but the bowazon was still miles beyond any other build during that time, and if you honestly try to argue that fact I can say with 100% certainty that you either did not play diablo 2 online, or you never encountered a half way decent bowazon at end game.
But let's take that even further, how bout diablo 2 in it's current state, with overpowered runewords that give everyone basically every skill to be a demi god, how bout Enigma which gives any class teleport for instant and easy farming + pvp control, or what about call to arms which gives anywhere from +2 to +5 to BO and BC, which for those that don't already know, is an awesome +hp/mana buff, and a +1 skill mod.
And let';s not forget about the insanely OP merc runewords clearly designed with act 2 mercs in mind, a properly specced built class, can have anywhere from 2-4 auras running, and auras are a pally only skill.
Nothing like a summon necro with holy might, fanat, thorns, and meditation running all at the same time, combine that with amp damage + corspe explosion and you effectively have just created the best pve build in the entire game, able to solo anything, including uber bosses. and uber tristram. The only other class ( iirc ) that can do that w/ such ease is a pally, which btw are also insanely powerful gods now, hammerdin anyone?
I'm sorry, diablo 2 was a very fun ass game, I enjoyed every minute of it, I loved pvping too, especially with my summonnecro, nothing like using CE on someone in hell and having them go WTF mate? there is also nothing more fun then getting a close knit group of friends and dominating every single boss in hell either, including the ubers, but to say it was the pinnacle to gaming is just ignorant, there were a lot of unbalanced mechanics and flaws in d2, it was just that fun of a game though that it survived, also the fact that it was free to play online.
I guarantee you if you had to PAY to play diablo 2 online it would've died out years ago.

Dude, just stop being negative the game doesn't even have a release date yet, and only 2 classes have been revealed, one of which sounds very dynamic ( witchdoctor buffing and blowing up his own minions, sounds pretty cool imo ) so in the mean time just sit back and watch the show, because that's all you can do.
