The horadric cube was used for? oh yeah, upgrading runes amongst many other things. Not to mention you could trade a few mid runes for a Zod, or a SoJ, Zod's weren't hard to attain a month, if that, after a ladder release, and if you used trading forums it was even easier.

It's supposed to be a challenge to get the best runes/runewords, it shouldn't be like EQ2/MMO's where in a few months it gets nerfed to shit so every fucking newb can have one/participate.

Special Ed games piss me off, and thats why I liked Diablo 2, mainly because on the advanced level, the chosing of stats/skills/gear made it fucking hard to pvp if you were retarded and they eventually gave up after getting raped 30-0. If it was intended to be hard, and casuals can't get it or complete it, fuck them for sucking, dont ruin it for people who aren't retarded.

Diablo 3 will own, and XpLiciT will dominate once again.

Also what's laughable is the highest rune you could get from the cube was gul, which was worth fucking shit. And a few mid runes for a zod? LOL, why do you think that was so, wait for it, wait for it....

Because almost all the zods were fucking duped, why pay anything higher then a few mid runes on something that had a strong possibility of vanishing the next game or two you join.

And SoJ for a zod? You realize that is basically saying Dupe for dupe right?

It's funny because the drop rates are actually so horrible, it seems like buying items is the legit way LOL, because that's how most ppl actually get to see high end rune words in game.

Diablo is a special ed game, and that is what made it so fun, unbalance and flaw were the strong points of the entire game, there was no challenge aside from PvP, ubers, and hardcore mode.

The reason people play diablo was to fuck up nuubs, any other reason is just being in denial, you play diablo to be a walking god.

I look forward to it tbh, because honestly Diablo is looking like the last game of it's kind, with all the other easy solo shit fest "MMO's" out there atm.

I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say I'm tired of fucking solo quest grinds in MMO's.

Highest cubed rune was GUL? negative. Gul x2 was worth more than Zod btw at one point in time, infact I think it still is.

Because it was essentially useless unless you had a ethereal death cleaver or were a barb? Jah and Ber were the money makers. Runes were the easiest and safest things to dupe cause they could be perm'd so easily, if you knew what you were doing that is.


Everything since 1.07 was duped to fuck, it fluctuated the economy and even if you had a duped ZOD the chances it disappearing after you made your runeword was pretty fucking slim since the item code changed after your runeword was made. It still doesnt take away from the fact that Zod was easily attainable and could be perm'd so easy.


Thats why people created rune runs and rushed for hellforge, its quite easy to get legit high end runes, some people prefer the easy way though.


randomized stats on unique loot made finding a better piece of the same item fun, its what EQ2 imo should have done with raid gear, so even though you've ran the same raid 40 times, the possibility of upgrading was still there. The day diablo has specific loot tables on bosses like an MMO is the day I will never play again. lotto gives variety, and chances for uniques/runes to drop should be high as fuck, not a 100% chance to drop a rune over l25.

Besides pvp, anni selling on ebay, and hardcore pvp, the game fucking sucked, I mean, it was way to easy, even uber diablo could be easily soloable, the only thing you really had to watch out for was Iron Maiden on a melee class. Most newbs who couldn't pvp thought the game sucked or got bored fast which is understandable, IMO the drive to better yourself and do those 500 runs for item finding came from pvp. The non-pvpers/retards who didn't pvp climbed the ladder, the gods won tournaments and clan matched. Special Ed maybe to newbs using cookie cutter builds, once you were a god you could take out nearly anyone if your build was well thought up, my barb could rape every class incl. sorc/necro/zon and they were the "overpowered" classes from 1.07 to current.

Agreed 100%, I cant wait to grind mobs in D3 and do ladder tournaments again. I hope they change the models to not look so WoW'ish, but on the scale that they will be seen, it doesn't look to bad. I hope the netcode should be priority this time around, d2hackit, autoaim, scroll-locks and pickits fucked up the game overall, but Fuck I can't wait to pvp in hopefuly one of a kind gear.

My B, yea I got messed up with gul rune because it is the highest rune u can get from forge ( iirc ) and the highest rune you can get from transmuting other runes in the cube.

I forgot about the other formulas for cham + runes from the cubey. My apologies.

And also I can't remember which gul was shit on, ladder or non ladder, although I'm pretty sure it was non ladder at the time, not like non ladder matters anyways haha.

And by lotto I just meant that atm the chance of finding a legit zod rune off of a mob is just so out of whack imo, remember hephasto has the highest chance, some mobs like moo moo cows are in the millions for a chance to drop a zod rune. ( moo moo's have the lowest chance i think )

I also like the idea of randomized stats, but the only problem with that is generally speaking the economy inherits the idea of "if it's not perfect, then it's shit" attitude, and it makes trading a bitch, but that is more of an annoyance then anything to me.

Also about your barb, I have no doubts he could rape any class but I bet you his gear was beyond amazing correct? because honestly not many barbs can survive unless their end game gear is nothing short of amazing, there were like 3 different lvls of end game pvp imo.

Nuubs who thought they were shit because they happened to get a full end game set ( IK set, Trang-ouls, etc etc )

And finally were the top of the top, the death gods who had basically everything. + skill GCs, 16/20/20's ( iirc ) torch, anni, HoTo, arachnids mesh, CTA on the switch for buffs, ect ect.

To actually get to that "death god" level you needed a ton of shit, and a ton of luck imo, from knowing the right ppl to being in the right place at the right time.

And yea hacks further ruined the economy that was d2. Poor d2 lol

I'm very happy with what I read. It seems they are keeping the original spirit of Diablo(D2) and not turning out another MMO.

Part of me thinks that the logical progression for Blizzard would have been to make Diablo into their premiere MMO title instead of Warcraft but I digress.

I can't fucking wait to play it though!
