dreamfall was playable. i just beat it and im looking forward to the rumord sequal already. AO sucked IMO, and i was way to into eq2 when i picked it up off a friend as a froob (free noob, you can even get an in game shirt that says FROOB on it if you wish to advertise the fact) to get into another MMO at the time. im hoping however that age of conan will change this fact. the game looks promising to say the least. im glad they pushed it back if it needs more dev time. i dont mind a steep learning curve, hell i played fucking starsiege tribes for years and sucked through half of it. but i can tell you straight up, if the learning curve is TO steap the game will flop. and thats a bad thing, esp for a game that could become so much that eq2 failed on.

with that said, im still looking forward to RoK on the whole, and plan to play both games when AoC comes out, before deciding which one i like more and sticking to it as my raid game, while playing the other one casually

fyi, tons of new info being released on this game at / around the leipzig convention, i can't get links now, but you can get info on official forum, people have posted stuff and more is coming...

they've revealed how the (pvp) siege system works, war-mounts (mammoth, battle-rhino), pvp vs. pve gear, some sort of mercenary system - if you're high level and possibly unguilded, you can actually get a contract with players to help attack or defend a pvp keep...

up to 150 characters on screen without lag... fog of war system to cut down lag ni mass battles... 2500 animations just for the male characters... a separate sound for every type of weapon hitting every kind of armor...

all the fanbois are drooling... they are also showing siege system in actino at that convention and have invited everyone and their mama to come down, try it and bring a camera to post stuff online after...

oh to be in leipzig now!

Funcom was one of the stops our networks team in leipzig was making. It sounds very exciting but they are still a loooong way from launch. I expect video to start popping up soon.

this game looks lame for 3 reasons.

1st being the whole archetype thing they're "ripping off" from EQ2; archetypes are retarded, unique classes are not.

2nd being Conan sucks and the name of the game sucks

3rd being the pc I bought for EQ2's release doesn't even meet the minimum system requirements for Conan... wtf?

That's the one thing we really have to look out for, and not over hype the game because of the title. A game could be called Shitquest, but if I played it for myself and it was good, that's all that really matters.

1. archetypes have existed since DnD and the invention of the RPG. EQ2 neither invented nor ripped them off. They are part of the genre.

2. agreed. I woulda liked "The Hyborian Age" to be the name, without Conan mention. but hey, they have the license, so they gotta milk it. in the end, more people buying the game means more support, etc., so they can market it however they want.

3. so you would like the graphics to be 4 years outdated? my machine didn't meet EQ2 min req's when EQ2 came out. That's why now, 3 years into EQ2, the game still has best graphics of any MMO on the market. I want my stuff cutting edge. Can always go play WoW, i think a 486 can run it...

They are still a popular idea for some reason. Tabula Rasa is using them the only difference being skills you garner from lower tiers are still marginally useful at all levels.
