Actually, they're not the same at all. From what I've read, they wanted to make mounted combat pretty unique, so they have have mounts that fit into different classifications... speed/maneuverability vs toughness. Horse is fast but non-durable, rhino is medium to both, and mammoth is slow but extremely durable. There are supposedly some additional bonuses to each of the classes. I think I read that you can for example use a mammoth to help destroy buildings during sieges and stuff. Sounds pretty neat.

I actually dont think AOC will flop, but after my experiences with VG and Tabula Rasa, I sure as hell aint dropping everything I have built up in WOW for it. Or any new game for that matter. I'll play it a little bit and watch the development. I too have learned from my mistakes, I'm not putting alot of faith into anything until it proves to be a solid, game.

Im going to hope funcom learned not to launch buggy games from past experience. AO release was pretty bad and they lost alot of subscriptions but the game is still alive and kicking. Kinda wish I still played.

AO was - with the exception of DnL - the worst MMO launch in history. But Funcom took from that to one of the best games in the genre. So yeah, hopefully all the pushbacks on AoC indicate that they've learned from the past and won't make the same mistake.

AoC will have a smaller customer base, not as a result of the gameplay (which is a lot of fun) but because it makes use of DX10, requires nothing lower than an 8 series and 2 gigs of RAM etc etc. The system specs will shut out all the 12 year old "mommy buy me an alienware" toons and thank god for that.

Am I an AOC fanboy ? Maybe a little but you can bet your ass if I get to 80 and the raids are garbage I wont be bothering. Doubtful that will happen though, Ive seen some outdoor scripts that are fairly involved.
