What is the character creation like? How detailed? And is it like Vanguard where the sliders just warped the body and face?
Basicly, is everyone going to either end up looking the same, or like warped mutants if they try to look different?
I've checked the official webesite and i've seen some clips they've released. I want some opinions from people that have actually tried it, if I can get them.
BTW, Dakis, what is that icon at the top of your screen shot? The one that looks like a roast chicken?

The color palette you're whining about in EQ2 is called realism. Look around sometime, it's all grays and browns and greens IRL too. Instances by nature are indoor zones, and they give the feeling that you're in a tomb or treasure trove or fortress, nobody is going to lay their treasure out in the middle of a wheat field or next to an idyllic pond...
One of my beefs with WoW is that there isn't decent enough lore that a person can care about. Instances, for instance... a paragraph about the place you're going to via quest dialogue is about it... In eq2 these places were held in reverence or fear or awe or greed by NPCs and you got a real sense, that first time, that you were heading somewhere important.

EQ2's failures at color do not justify saying that all color is bad. And sorry, no, RL is not like that. Yes, there are grays and browns and greens, but there are lots of little touches that are totally missed all over the place. Wildflowers, vegetation, etc.
Blizzard just has amazingly better art direction overall. I'm not a fan of the cartoony-style of the in-game actual WoW, but compare the FMV's that are a part of WoW or other blizzard games like Diablo 2 or WC3 or etc. They get all the little touches and details that make all the difference in the world, Sony just doesn't. It's probably a budget thing, since they're running on a shoestring with like 10 employees.

Character creation is quite detailed in AoC, your character will look very different than other people you see running around. Also, there is tons of gear with different looks, and NOT just different textures plopped on the same armor over and over like EQ2. Check out this video of the female character creation:

It's no wonder that scrub whines about WoW being the only good game out there. Only game he can play with any decent settings
