Default Re: Why have a pally in a raid?

I've seen a lot of stigma surrounding the Warrior's "oh-shit" buttons when I mention my paladin as a means of tanking trash for raids. I think they're just idiots for not realising how well amends on an ae blaster works. Give me a swash and warlock and trash is cleared with me not losing agro.

So beyond trying to get them to do that, I've been trying to up my avoidance as much as possible. The EoF aa line for the increased shield effectiveness, block and parry adornments and the such should at least let me help the MT not get his face beat in as much.

Paladins are great on raids. Honestly they make the best meat shield on a warlock by far. I can't tell you how many my warlock has killed simply by putting enough aggro on them that the entire encounter rips them a new one one half a second before they rip me one.

Honestly, do they rez better then dirges, not really from what I have seen. Do they heal better then healers, not really. Do they tank better then a guard or zerker, not really from what I have seen.

The only advantage they seem to have is that in a properly configured group, they are great for encounters with multiple mobs. 3 for more and you throw a warlock in the group with them, grab the dirge, toss amends and tell the healers to hold on. 15 seconds later the mobs are dead, the pally feels like a cheerleader after the big game (banged all to hell) and the warlock is laughing his ass off when he shows everyone the parse.

Do you even have a paladin?

Paladins Rez with 100% health
Any that claim to be a healer are misguided at best they can spec for backup healing but u would be better off with a lower level healer.

If what u say is based on what u have seen then all u have seen is the piggyback paladin that thinks all they need to do is put amends on someone and sit back or ebay paladins or collection quest paladins all the ones that couldnt be bothered learning how to play.

You are a warlock in the paladin forums telling us how crap we are lmfao.

I can tell you from what i have accomplished on my paladin the best of the best reside in this forum. There is no way in hell I would have learnt to play mine they way I do if it wasnt for all the info these guys have posted on this forum and questions they have answered in the world channel.

That deserves a double bump. The top Paladins of EQ2 not only resurrect toons ingame with 100% health, they resurrect other Paladin players with 100% passion. I'm thankful for our community as well.

Gout isn't completely trashing us... I can be honest...

1. we are no better at healing than a healer with the same skill
2. we don't have an edge up on the rez duty imo (so the f*** what)
3. an elite guard/zerker can tank the same things we tank

Here's my response... it's a simple rebuttal... can any of them do all three in the same raid?

1. show me a healer toating a fabled bow
2. show me a dirge that steps toetotoe with any epic mob in the game for more than 10 seconds
3. show me a guard that makes the heal parse while tanking

...hell, Paladins are a one toon team when they are firing on all cylinders. They've even been known to make that DPS parse upon occasion. We're as close to perfect as a class comes when played properly.

It's pretty nice of us to let you play your Warlock but it's a two way symbiotic relationship if you ask me. Every Paladin is just as happy to get a Warlock amends monkey as a Warlock is to wear our nuke for free trenchcoat.

We get to tank for free... you get to nuke for free... it's win/win. No one needs to crap on our little arrangement.

Well said Oisin.

I know Gout wasnt completely trashing us but we get enough of that crap ingame without ppl comin into these forums and starting especially when they have only seen paladins being played by other ppl.

We all know that there are more badly played ones then well played ones and aint that what these forums are for? To let others know what we are capable of and to help other paladins improve.

/sigh. Rez mentioned in another post. I haven't casted a rez while in combat in many moons. It's very long casting and you need your balls resting on their chin in order to cast it. By the time I get anywhere close to rezzing someone someone else has already beat me to it.

/rant off

Good thing Necro Rez is the best Rez in the game.

After coming 2nd in the DPS parse in deathtoll, and coming 3rd in the heal parse on the tender fight this weekend.... you know what... I'm somehow inclided to agree.

Now if only we can convince our guilds :P

Intersting this coming from you Gout, since you raid in an alliance that uses a Paladin MT...
