Who do I put Amends on?
Is there a priority list somewhere that ranks which classes are the best Amends target? I know Warlocks are on the top of the list, but I'm a little foggy when it comes to the different scout classes and other mages.
I vaguely remember a list ranking classes by DPS listed on the SOE boards.

Re: Who do I put Amends on?
whoever generates the most hate without it. typically a swashy is your best choice since they give you aoe agro, they stack well in group with dirge + templar for proc enhancers and dps boosters, and they also generate a shit ton of hate from debuffs. good warlock usually is next on my list. i find that classes which deal mainly single target DPS arent as good in raids, but are better in groups since shit dies so fast. there are always exceptions though. it also depends on what your own personal dps is and where most of it is being delt out. if oyu deal out 80% of your dps in aoe you will prolly find you hold better agro on whoever you are targeting with amends on a wiz than a warlock, where as it will reverse if you generate more single target hate

Re: Who do I put Amends on?
I prefer warlock then assasin in that order.
Warlock nets you +casting skills which means you'll be able to get less resists on the pull with your spells along with very high dps, a melee proc and AAs that increase your own proc rate and even increase your own hate
Assasin has the nice apply poison buff and pretty much unmatched single target dps (if played right); they also benifit insanely from the MT group buffs
For named I would take assasin, trash warlock

Re: Who do I put Amends on?
Depends on the situation. I like swashy the best then warlock. Problem is I'm gimping the warlock by putting him in the OT group while the swashy will excell in that group. So what's better for the raid is to use a swashy. With single target mobs you can use a swashy or an assassin. For encounters like 3p or MO, I'll use a healer. Any fight where the entire raid is burning a different target than me, you'll get the best result using whomever is healing you the most.

A skilled Swashy then skilled Warlock, in most cases. They do need to be skilled though and be good enough to understand their role as the amends target, and must generate enough DPS to be a good amends target.

Re: Who do I put Amends on?
I typically use a Swashy or Warlock. But don't be inflexible; every fight can be different ...occasionally you are putting Amends on someone not so much for the purpose of you holding aggro but to keep them from getting killed while they perform some key role (like mezzing adds for Tarinax/Bonesnapper/Othysis etc). But usally the highest parsing scout or a Warlock are good choices.
Whomever ends up being your Amends target, it's critical that you explain to them what their role is in helping you to maintain aggro, especially in pick-up groups/raids. You need to: 1) let them know you put Amends on them, 2) tell them you want ALL the hate they can generate, and to take off any hate-decreasers and 3) go all-out dps!
I'm repeating myself and saying the same things in multiple posts, but I'm still hearing comments from players in-game about how reluctant they are to let a Paladin tank for them. I can only assume that a lot folks playing Paladins are doing a shitty job. Here's to ensuring that's no one on these forums...

Re: Who do I put Amends on?
Yup, you have to be smart enough to know when to use something different. For example, fighting Treyloth, a Warlock is not a good amends target, because every 25% when Treyloth memblurs, he goes into a spell reflect mode and the warlock would have all his spells reflected at him, making him unable to generate hate for you when you need to build up aggro again after the memblur.

Re: Who do I put Amends on?
IMO, it's like any class...there's plenty of players who think they know their class and the mechanics of the game, but don't, or simply don't know them well enough. It's not just Paladins, it's the other classes too.

Actually I'm pretty sure deagro procs and guff are calculated after any transfer; so I don't think it really matters about that... and its not really "all out dps" I've had a long chat about that with my fav warlock/wizard who I use for amends and it ISN'T the path of the most dps... just the path of the most hate that nets you the most transfer. which is a slightly different order.... bascially everythign they teach you NOT to do in sorcerer school; you do with amends on.
There is nothign better than seeing a warlock open with rift and then deagro and see the mobs snap to you without lifting a finger :P
