I don't chime in too often since I'm not a high end raid guildee and really don't know much about the upper tier raid zones....but...I am as it sits now 1 of the 2 tanks my guild leans on for us to gimp our way through Protector's Realm...I'm proud of the steps my guild has made with me at point man for them. I am a proud pally....I would never choose anything over a Pally to try and tank with. I am not a healer...I am certainly not utility by any means....and yes...my dps is kind of gimptastic....so be it. I am a good tank or so I've been told. This epic weapon is an epic piece of trash. It is a slap in the face to everything I have worked for as a Pally. I lived through the stigma of not being a true tank and shining as an off tank. When the chips are down, my guild would tell you to let TxL tank it. This weapon and it's crap for a proc is just sony's way of teabagging what seems to be a soon dying breed. I'm happy for my brother Pallies that have cleared us other Pallies a path to follow. I chose to follow the harder path of being a main tank...everything I take in loot is geared toward a tank. I would by no means consider this weapon even CLOSE to being a tank weapon. The stats are decent, but I would rather finish up my SoD quest and at least get the legendary weapon with the +5 to shield block and carry it...I don't see any way that this epic weapon would help my avoidance any. I don't see how this would make me a better tank....in fact I'm sure it would gimp me more than I'm already gimped.

If we are lucky enough that a developer is reading this, then I mean no disrepect when I say "what the hell were you thinking????" It is time that a dev follow a true Pally tank around and let him see for himself where our weaknesses lie. Aggro control??? Nope....not a prob...never has been a prob. Dealing damage??? As far as I've seen a guardian and a Pally in equal gear and both using a tower shield are on par. Taking damage?? To me this is where the Pally's one weakness shows up. We've never had the best tools for taking a beating when it got heavy. We don't get tower of stone....we get a ward (oh joy...another interuption...doh...another interupt...screw it)...we have heals (shoot interupted again....screw it...Holy touch). I would have been happy with some sort of proc that we could activate that would absorb or maybe even absorb say 50% of incoming damage. or a 9% proc chance to have the next to hits hit less or not at all. Devs you have no idea what a Pally is anymore. I might be alittle off from what the high enders think....but at least I'm in the ballpark of what a Pally is and isn't....you aren't even in the same state as the ballpark. Thank you very much for screwing us over yet again.

Meh, first one server to get it. Yay? Honestly I was excited to get it regardless of the stats. It's the Epic, it's a rush to race and get it first.
But after that, I felt I was robbed of all my time thinking "Wow, an Upgrade to my SOD weapon, should be cool." What the hell happened between lvl 70 and lvl 80 my dear Paladin Epic weapon Developer?

All these posts will probably fall on deaf ears anyways (SWG anybody?). But honestly melee crit +3?? Another question I have not even regarding Paladin epic is, why in the hell would you put Melee crit on Guardian and a Defensive stat on the Zerker? Am I missing something here? Ohhh I thought the Guardian was meant to be tanks of all tanks. Jesus, you guys really even sit down to think about what stats you put on these weapons? I hope for your sake you are not seeing into the future for all these classes, because we as the EQ2 community know for a fact another expansion is a LLLOONNGG way off. So don't try to feed us that same line of bullshit again.

Hell take the stupid crit away, throw a damn +3 parry or +3 Def on it and make the damn thing proc fuckin Carebears for all I care, as long as it benefits the Paladin class.

I'm sorry I dont have a link to provide, but I just saw the guardian epic linked in world channel and while I try not to get overly upset at everything negative that happens in game, regarding paladins or otherwise I must say I'm more upset and irritated than I have ever been. In short, the guard mythical is nothing short of fabulous. It's any tanks dream. With +5 to shield effectiveness (block), a 10% damage reduction proc, complete immunity to riposte damage and the removal of shield restrictions from the guard AA lines (gonna be a lot of zerks betray for that I'd bet) among other things it stands to reason there it is VERY unlikely that anything the pally mythical will have will even come close. Yes, I know some will say wait til we see it, but I am not at all hopeful that this is anything other than a royal screwing for us the supposed "other" defensive based tank by sony's own definition. I know this is only a game, but it is one that a lot of us have put a lot of time and effort into. And to see something like this truly makes me feel as though I have paid to take a beating.

Well all is not lost for paladins. If they're willing to monkey with weapon restrictions for Guards, it's possible they could do the same thing for Paladins. Perhaps a 2hander with a clickie that puts up a big block buff, or something like that.

Looking at the other classes epics, the uberness has varied widely between heroic and mythic. Look at the brig epic; one of the worst heroics but one of the best mythics.

Wow just wow. Now Guards can spec for the Sta line and not have any penalties at all. This bitch is overpowered and I swear to god I fucking quit if Palies don't get anything close to that. Oh and immune to reposte damage = WTF.

That Guardian weapon is Fucking awsome. Fuck that thing is sweet. PLZ do NOT link the Paladin Mythical, I dont want to quit the game until i help the rest of my guild get ther epics, Thks. Well, now that i think about it. A guard can tank for 11 players with that weapon. Maybe they dont need me to help them get there epics. /shrug

ROFL SOE are you completely stupid?!

A) The Dev lead for Palys should be let go
B) SOE's product release manager that was responsible for signing off on the paly epic should be .. let go (How can you justify signing off on this /shakes fist)
C) Could the guardian Epic be anymore over powered compared to the Paly one? Not even gonna comment on their Mythical version with the abililty to forgo Any shield requirements and all of the other crap.

disclaimer: I havent seen the mythcial paly one, but if it DOES build off the fabled, then SOE has lost their minds.

I'm here to support you all (Paladin's) as a Warlock and Bruiser. You guys got fucked, and this shit needs to be fixed by SOE.

Hey SOE here is a clue, Paladins are tanks with Utility, not healers with a sword or DPS with a shield. When did you ever ask for DD or a healer and expect a paladin to fill that role.

Do they think Palys sit tthere and sapm DD's/ Heals for raids/groups?!

Couple of ideas perhaps, maybe add some block % or some sort of damage deflection/absorption (All tanks have a hard on for any type of stone skin /hint /hint. Trust me guards have plenty of tanking ability, this wont step on their preciouse toes.

Im out , keep your chin up Paladin's, you have LOTS of supporters!

I don't care if it is mythical, that guardian epic has to be nerfed. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just an idiot. I've never seen such a good item. No item should ever be that class defining. In fact, it will either completely trivialize content or make guardians the only possible tank. I mean seriously, 5 block chance, 10% less damage almost half the time you are fighting from auto attacks alone (factor in CAs and haste probably well over 70% of the time), the ability to get the uncontested parry bonus and double attack from the AA line while using a tower shield. We are looking at a guardian with this weapon taking like a third less damage than one without. This is just insane.

On to the paladin epic. Ignoring the proc, it is perfectly in line with every other epic. For the group player it is most likely the best there is. I can't complain about it from this perspective. Sure there are better raid weapons, but this isn't a raid weapon. But the proc, however, is basically useless. A damage/heal bonus that provides a marginal increase to damage and triggers from only from spells, which make up maybe half of our repertoire. It would have been better just to put a cookie cutter damage proc on the thing. It's like the guy who thought this up read the official literature on our class then just sorta haphazardly put the effect together without any real knowledge of how the class plays. "Hey, it says they use wisdom and have spells and heals, clearly they need an effect that increases damage and heal power based on their wisdom." I might not have even been very upset if it were a permanent effect rather than a proc that will rarely go off. I mean at least then I could say my spell damage and my heals are getting a concrete bonus.

Someone link the fabled version of the Guardian weapon for comparison please? It's entirely possible that we'll get similar effects on our epic plus the proc we have.

I was told also that the proc on our weapon is not restricted by the +spell damage cap, but no idea if that's fact of fiction.

Not saying I'm happy with our fabled, but hell, if we get similar bonuses from our final mythical version, I would at least be less unhappy.
