Default New idea....

Okay...I was in the shower brooding over how unfair life is as a Pally...oh...alright...I was in the shower at least...but anyways. We've been looking for a class defining ability that would make us a different style of tank...something that would be above and beyond a warrior's ability. We know warriors can take a melee beating with their temp buffs a touch better than we can. I got one for us crusaders...we are the holyest(spelling?) of holy and the evilest (is this even a word) of evil...we are magical in nature nevertheless. I would support a 4th defensive ability to be added to block, parry, and deflection (brawler ability)....REFLECTIBILITY...the ability to bounce spells off of you...just spells...not melee. This would be a crusader only ability. Our defensive buff would allow for say 12.5% reflectibility for the t8 master version. Offensive would just take away from whatever natural ability could be calculated. The upside...take two mobs...mob A and mob B. Mob A is a melee style mob...scout, warrior, etc...let the warrior tank it. Mob B is a mage, crusader, etc...let the crusader tank it for whatever% chance they get for reflecting some of the nasty spells back. This would not only make guilds think about what they are fighting, but give them better options on how to fight it and with who. Would this piss off someone?? Yea..but don't all changes??

Flame this if ya want...praise it if ya want...at least it could be a possible happy middle ground for all tanks involved.

If I wanted reflect then I would get the Int endline. When you are tanking a name raid mob how many AE would have to go off for it to proc if it has a 9% proc to reflect? You would probably be dead many times before you see one.

I would modify your idea and let it reflect back anything spells/attack you name it. It would have a 12% to proc when the paladin takes dmg puts a buff on the paladin that last for 15 sec to reflect 1 single hit of whatever it is at half the dmg.

Its great that you're trying to think up of something that would define our class. Looks like the things I suggested on the normal eq2 pally forum is already taken by the guardian epic.

For the first i would like to say... yeah your group epic was the worste pice of crap i have ever seen! i can agree on that! But pallys are defined? crusaders are to be overpowered of holding aggro... warriors of taking damage... the only thing that can be done to make it the way you want is remove alot of your hate gain and put in more spell resist and stuff.. and make more mobs that do nasty spell damage... give you stoneskin things from spell damage... how does that sound then?think txleather was in on that point i think... but it still dont change it... if you want to take more damage you have to lose some off your hate gain.

What you say makes Popa Dorf happy hehehe

...but, proc = teh sux if you want a fundamental core defining ability... now a ToS like thing on the hotbar for shrugging spells? hmmm...

I'd say lower recast on Reflect (end of the Int AA line) or give it a couple of more ticks... that certainly wouldn't be much work mechanically. Has anyone tested the usefulness of Reflect in MT situations? I always thought it might be awesome but, honestly never goofed with it.

I can imagine it being pretty nice on the pull and even at a 1 min recast it would rock in most timed big hitting intervals if the mob isn't casting a bunch of little lamesauce. I doubt it's anywhere near as HP saving as ToS but, Reflect certainly is an advantage for crusaders that gets very little publicity.

the last time I look at that end ability was when it reflect class prof spells and which raid mob ingame that even cast a class prof spell? = 0

I think amends is this class-defining ability - unfortunately, it only helps put us at the top of the threat list and doesn't do much to keep us alive. I'm not so worried about reflecting spells (when I can resist many of them). I am, however, not so keen on 15K+ damage in the blink of an eye.

I really think Divine Aura should have its re-cast shortened and damage limits dropped. I mean they've made an AA end ability completely useless against most epic encounters. This isn't over-powering the ability, its just making it useful.

Spells can be negated with resists. Hardly much of a tanks inc damage is spell attacks too. It is mostly melee auto attack. This idea wouldn't help much if at all.

I don't mind Divine Aura blocking half of the total hitpoints. But if someone hits for more, the part that was prevented should still be prevented. The over-hit portion can still get through, but hitting for FULL damage does not make sense.

I've no problem with that, either. Seems like a much more feasible and less OP'ed compromise.
