Aggro question

If in a group with a ranger and a wizard with mystic and fury, would you put Amends on the ranger or the wizzy? Both are 80.

Also, any tips on preventing the one not amended from ripping aggro?

General answer to this is "put it on the one that will transfer you the most hate." However, that being equal, put it on the wizard. The ranger gets deaggro poisons/abilities and will probably last longer if he does pull aggro.

General answer: Paladins should run a parser and keep an eye on who's on top. Macro it and swap between encounters.

I like scouts on quick encounters as they generate the fastest hate normally but, Thar is right and amending the dress wearer tends to have less deaths overall. Wizards make great amends targets but they have to know how to do it as a slow casting big nuker isn't going to help you much in a lot of fast paced situations.

If that is a regular team, I'd pick the wiz but take a few minutes to edjumicate him how to help you snap up the aoe aggro when need be and prebuff Glacial Shield on you between pulls when he sees you warding.

Typically I amend the ranger. Like mentioned before, a parse will give you a good idea who to choose. Keep in mind if the ranger is using any deagros or certain poisons they might still parse well but pull less agro then the wizzy. Amends is instant cast so sometimes I switch the target of my amends in a fight if I have to. Nothing wrong with burning holy ground or sigil if it gets nasty.

Rangers have a passive self deaggro. So if both are parsing the same, amends the wizard.

Your absolutely right about the self deagro.

However, the self deagro passive is a solo buff which the ranger can choose to use or not. The rangers that I group with typically have such good burst agro that they help me hold agro quite well whether they have Primal Agility (the self deagro 29% i believe at ad3) up or not.

Our wizzy is good too, dont get me wrong I have to work to keep agro.. I just find the ranger knows how to give me good burst agro right off the bat and seems like that works best for me. May not be the case if your ranger isnt as strong as the one I typically group with.

FWIW, from what I understand, if it's an aggro dump (decreases current threat) then it doesn't affect hate transfers because the hate is transferred first and then the threat is reduced. If it's a hate gain % decrease, however, that is applied when the hate is generated before being transferred.
