Why not use Xanadu? They seem to be more consistently updated there.

Someone please tell me how this Ring of the Bastion | \aITEM -1777492001 606087941:Ring of the Bastion\/a
is better for tanking then \aITEM 543664279 684655722:Band of the Dragon Slayer\/a imo i wouldnt wear the bastion ring over thuuga ring or dragon slayer ring.

Neither one is really all that much better than the other. Bastion has the health and DPS advantage (translating into better aggro control), and the Dragon Slayer ring has a slight edge in contested avoidance. Personally I'd rather have the higher HP and DPS.

you would rather have 20hp less sta and a 85 retared spell damage and 30 int and some wis over +5 def and and 35 agi ring

cmon now... hp is nice and all but we are talking 20hp and even less sta then the dragon slayer ring.

1.A good paladin has no trouble holding agro
2. + def and + parry are by far the best added on stats
3. What MT/OT paladin would take 85 spell damage over another +5 def

The problem i see too many times on posts like this is people have a narrow view on the use of a item. Wargone and Tharinor are correct for different situations. In a OT setup i would pick the ring of bastion for the much higher offensive capability it has versus the dragonslayer. If the dragonslayer had parry on it, it would be worth even more, but even little old Steel is close if not maxxed on defense with other gear in tanking mode.

I see both of these items as being useful and paladins have to look at THEIR player setup to see which fits them the best at the time. Mting tougher mobs i would be inclined to use the dragonslayer ring for now, but with a few pieces of gear added later on, i would rather go to the ring of the bastion. I think we all can agree that the thuuga reward ring is a pretty nice item for the vast majority of us, irregardless of what we do with the 2nd slot ring...:-)

I woudl take a +health over contested avoidance in my full tank gear easy.

I forget what Boli's def and parry skill stand at solo but raid buffed you're looking at pretty close to if not at the cap. because the way tanking is warped right now you either avoid the hit... or survive it and +20 health may not sound like much but it sure adds up and +5 def sometimes does equal LESS than +20 health

Yup, pretty much my thinking. Even my parry hits close to the 520 mark once in my tanking gear and OT or MT group.

I'm not worried about aggro control, that's not why I go for DPS. I go for DPS when I know survivability is in good shape and I want the mob to die faster. ;) Also, the nice thing about HP is it isn't subject to diminishing returns. ;) They'll probably both get trumped by a VP ring eventually anyway.

there becomes a point as an offtank that you have more defensive gear/people/abilities than you need.

i used to roll with a templar and defiler, and then later on i opted for an inquisitor and mythic instead because of their dps advantages, also, theres alot of gear in SoH that decreases your hp over time or as a proc, these pieces own if you are geared out enough already to mitigate their penalties.
