Re: Amends and wtf it means...
Hehe.. numbers are all fine and dandy.. the questions arise when the math just doesnt add up to in game experience.
I will give u an example...
I was in a group with Coercer, Ranger, Wizard, Monk and Templar
The 3 dps classes did roughly equal dps(300-500 difference where wizzy was the lowest) and the difference in dps was pretty constant on the 4-5 first encounters we cleared. The monk was slightly above the 2 others.. Coercer had his aggro on me.
I started with amends on monk.. but the mob kept running for the friggin ranger.. giving me a hard time getting aggro back, cause I had to run after the daft mob.
So I switched amends to the ranger.. Now monk got aggro just about 50% of all the fighting time. This worked out for a while, since monk can actually survive taking a beating. But then suddenly wizard starts grabbing aggro mid fights (dunno why really) and the mob runs for him, killing him before turning to me. Ok.. so after a while when this happens, I have to amends the wizard to save his armor some..
Then what happens.. The monk doesnt get the aggro.. the friggin ranger does..
Now.. do u see why we ask these kind of "stupid" questions?
Why do the ranger pull constant aggro when I amends the monk, and why do the monk keep the aggro more than I do when I amend the ranger? And why on earth do the ranger get the aggro more than the monk when I amend the friggin wizzy?
To clearify one thing.. It didnt just happen once.. I tried the different amend targets on quite a few encounters each.. and the result was the same every friggin time. And its quite frustrating when I get into groups where this happens.. (its not often, but it does happen).
Can I blame it on the dps for using various de-aggros when amended? or maybe for not using them when not amended? or is it me? (why does it only happen in some groups tho)

Re: Amends and wtf it means...
This to me seems to be a case of 3 ppl who all have quite a bit higher dps then yourself. This happened to me a lot at first when I switched class to pally and grouped with my guildies. My dps was just to small to make up for the high dpsers of my guild. Since then I have gotten quite alot more gear, worked on my approach to how I fight and now its rare that I loose aggro in group situations. But our own dps is also a big part of what makes us keep aggro. Amends in itself is not enough if you have people doing big amounts of damage and our own dps is low.
And you can always loose aggro to a ranger or wizard who gets in a big double attack in the first seconds of a fight.
This is my take on what you described.

If hate gain and hate transfer have a cap of 50%.
Does sigil and the avatar miracle that adds 100% hate gain supersede the cap rulesm, becuase they are short term buffs?

Re: Amends and wtf it means...
Vulkan in that situation I woudl amend wizard tell him to get his head oput his ass and spam cast and don't worry about gettgin agro; get ranger to put on reduced hate gain; swap into offensive stance and dps yourself like crazy... if the monk gets agro its prob from dev fist and if he dies its a free stoneskin for you and his own stupid fault.
Remember if you are lacking ANY dirge your own hitrate will decrease more than that of your group especially in the intial stages and there is no dreased hate gain for dps classes or increased hate gain on yourself
Amends isn't AFK mode; it CAN be if one dps class has got WAY more dps than everyone else; or in the case of guardian dps in raids (if ya top the parse who cares about transfers :P).
As for Gungo... sigil ignores the person you have amends on and transfers from everyone else in a ratio of :
41+36+36+36+36+36=221
9.3% from amends, 8.1% from everyone else.
In reality tho... sigil = good, however since it bascially drains the hate only from YOUR group, its less effective in terms of raids and if your group isnt; doing anythgin it bascially gives you bog all and actually just reduces the amount given from your amendee so its best used on the pull equiv in my book to sentry watch for the pull.

Sounds like the coercer had deaggro(link) on the person you were trying to amends and then switched it when you switched your amends. Or your dps was really really low.

Is amends still broken so any deagro proc gets amplified through amends?

No, sigil works on a different rule set then normal hate transfers. I would assume all group transfers would work like this but this isn't the case. Trak shield for one doesn't work like this and I am unsure about the SK siphon hate in there eof aa's.

Re: Amends and wtf it means...
Actually the dmg of the dps in group and my own dps disparity might be the reason. Last time this happened was before I got my Mythical, and ranger/wizzy/monk all had theirs...
A little side note tho.. The aggro issue isnt really a BIG issue.. Its just a tad frustrating when it happens and u cant explain why.. hehe..

again i get 2 different answers
one says sigil takes from everyone in group and keeps under the 50% cap
The other says it works on a different ruleset then the normal 50% cap rule for normal hate transfer. I tend to think mahgnus is right since there is a 100% hate gain buff. That breaks the rule.

Re: Amends and wtf it means...
There are exceptions to the rule, and Sigil of Heroism is one of these. It's pretty easy to verify in practice.
