fuck that, if your a 80 crafter just get the recipies and sell them, good cash tbh, or wait for the voidshard mounts

I was in dps spec, and had about 4300 mitigation. Swapped out my VP boots with the zealot boots(5th piece) and my mitigation increased to 4900 roughly.

I'm no math geek, but 5% of 4300 does not = 600...

600 to 4300 = around 14% increased mitigation.

If this also works on buffed mitigation, lets say you have 6000 miti
with this set you'd then get 6840 mitigation just from the t1 shard set..

Instead of looking at the numbers, look at the overall mitigation percentages. I'm not sure what percent 4300 is, but let's assume that it's 50%, and you're getting a 5% increase, let's say to 55%. Perhaps 55% is equivalent to 4900 on the diminishing returns curve?

Best way to check is to mouse hover the numbers and see what the percents are before and after.

Ok.. I didnt really test that.. main because I was told over pally chat that it was raw mit numbers and not percentages..

If the % is scaleable, then this 5 set bonus would rock.. 65% would become 72% with the advanced set.. and it would not be reduced by diminishing curve.

Gonna check when I get home.

It didnt increase a full 5%.. more like 4.6%.. but the item I switched had more inate mitigation than the shard armor..

Need to do more testing...

Let me just break down dumb and simple here.

full set void darknight, gives me 67% mit and avoidance. FACT!
full set of T1/T2 raid gear, gives me 59% mit/ 61% avdn. FACT!

DPS soloing in jarsath Wastes against many single ^ 83 mobs, avg - 1,700.
(no mythical yet) this is with dps gear, and health constantly went down to
20-30% no heals. This is the fricking raid gear.

This is a 6 piece set of void darknight shard gear. But my health never got below 80%.
So.. i decided to start double pulling these ^ 83 wyrms/spermies,
died in dps gear a few times, best was 2.4k with constant heals/ward. I got tired of it, so i donned all 6 pieces of void darknight again,
I was shocked when i was double pulling those same mobs and hitting 3k, and only occassionally having to heal. (ward every time its up though).

I find it truly amazing that the entire set of voiddarknight set increased my dps/ and major survivability. Now that i ran the darknight gauntlets quest, i use the 5 pieces and the one quested gloves.
raid gear tested with.
Epicweapon Righteous barrier of Devotion (shield)
Trampler boots / Honorbound Vambraces (PR)
Mantle of the Jarsath Tribe
Blackened alloy gauntlets (re2)
Dreadscale greaves (tank) forgot dps pants

reet helm or Captain's dented helm (better then raid stuff)
I wish i had more info to go on, but i can tell you I am specced with only str all the way down, and 4,4,8 or close in agi/sta/int. I am also fully mastered on all damage spells, (5 short of full masters).

I don't understand, I mean, it takes 24 people to finish PR/Paw/Thuuga/Kor'sha (current raid zones our guild is farming), (by they way, very excited, got leviathon down to 14% and ran out of potions/suits

But shards can be farmed/earned whatever, and I am just shocked that I was able to outperform that gear with shard gear. I figured I would get the whole set, so i could change out any piece i wanted to and stil get the 5 piece bonus.
Just my 2cp, wanted to convey my findings to other NON-myth'd Pallies out there just trying to survive tanking TSO/Kunark still.

I play a paladin as an alt, mostly cuz I love making things explode with AE and my guardian can't do that.

I've tanked every heroic mob with both characters, and I honestly can say the void shard gear is a lot more effective than I thought it would be. I had zero problems clearing Ferzhul and Outer Stronghold with T2 void shard + TSO legendary + mythical and some random PR drops. That is even with a huge AA disadvantage (150ish vs 185). If you are on the fence at all, or don't have VP gear at this point, you should absolutely pick it up.

the second i got my 5piece bonus on t1 set (shoulders LOL go figure) my survivability went from dying with 2 healers (Fury/Templar) in evernight abbey to having that same templar solo heal me through manor without a single wipe, and even doing a couple of small room pulls. with the t2 set im seeing tanks rocking 67% mit self buffed and about the same HP an raid geared tanks. if you want to spec full defensive, without your myth you can still get up to 80%+ shield mod as well with the BP off last guy in labs - kor'sha (10%) deepwater barrier or rock blocker (from crucible and forge last guys, same avoid on shield +15% effectiveness, 39% from AP, another 10% from the shard jewelery set, and there are a few other pieces out there i havent memorised yet but i know its there.
