Default Auto Attack Timing

Hi all, I'm trying to put into practice what I've learned here, and from what I understand I can actually increase my DPS a shitload from actually pausing from casting or CA for my autoattack instead of running down the efficiency list. I've tried to get the timing down, but it has actually lowered my dps by like 50% when I pause. Either I'm retarded and I don't need to pause because autoattack queues itself, or I can't get the timing right. I can't figure out for the life of me how to set up an autoattack timer in ACT. Also, would I need to recalculate my swing rate dependant on group buffs/haste mods? Help please. I am using my epic if it makes any difference. And my spell crit is 88% and my melee crit is 55% not sure if that makes a difference either.

Thankyou Stone

Ok, got that up and have been testing it. So far it just beeps whenever I swing. Is there anyway to setup a warning, or do you just hit esc if you cast when it goes off?

Ok, this is beyond frustrating me. I have been testing this on a training dummy in my guild hall for over an hour now, and I cannot see any noticeable difference in waiting for my autoattack or just mashing buttons down the efficiency list. I must be doing something wrong. What do all you uber pallys do? I have all ad3 except for 2 m1. I have the complete t1 TSO Leg set (Zealot Steel) AA set up as I've read here, and against the stupid dummy I'm only parsing around 1.2k. In groups I'm around 2k with the exception of AE mobs. I've even tried exporting my slash to timers, but I still can't get that to work.

Any difference you'll see is more noticable the as you increase your haste and DPS mod. Those two stats will have the biggest initial increase on your overall DPS over anything else you could possibly do. Also, your DA and melee crit rate will play into it.

If the above are low, especially haste/dps mod, your slow autoattacks will hit for much less damage and they'll be just like another CA/spell. If your DPS mod is high, and your haste faster, you will hit more often, and your hits will hit much harder, to the point that they are hitting harder than all of your CAs/spells, so they take much higher priority, hence why you want to time your autoattacks.

Think of that ding you hear as God saying it's time to press a couple buttons. Auto attack on should always be your first move anyway..Ding- hit a couple buttons Ding- hit a couple buttons. It's that simple.

Check out the stickied thread for casting order/ best dps abilities etc...and come up with what works for you based on that.

It only gets more complicated than that in the sense that depending on what your haste is at, your actual weapon delay will vary, meaning you can do less in between auto-attacks the faster you are swinging.
