Default Critical Double Attack

I just want to confirm something I was told with some of the more Hard core raiders outthere. I raid in a casual guild and Tank
I am told that when you get hit by a Critical Double Attack

You get hit for [2 x ( the Crit attack amount) / 2] + (2 x The Crit attack amount ) - your Crit mit modifier %

None of you other aviodance or Mit matters so unless you have high Crit % its instant death assuming a hit bigger than your HP.

Double attacks are weird... you can miss but have your DA hit - so if the same is true for mobs - I woudl say that a DA is just a CHANCE to DA - if you succeed in that chance you will attempt to attack twice in the normal swing - except only the primary one will allow procs to fire from it; both of these attacks have a chance to crit.

When you get a DA from a mob you will SEE it say "such and such double attacks you, or trys to double attack you but you ripoiste etc. HOWEVER... tanks (myself included) sometimes notice a couple of hits in quick succession that is NOT a double atatck, and when asked "what that spike ws " just explain it as a double attack rather than try and explain the ins and outs of tanking to the raid leader.

BUT there is RNG issue that is quite preverlent; if you tend to get one proc you tend to get multiple procs and then no procs from the next attack; more likely it uses you "to hit" number as a base line for calculating if you will DA, Flurry or proc. so you will tend to see a DA that will crit more often than not. so that could be warping the results.

Negative Ghost Rider. That formula implies that you take more damage from the DA than the initial attack by formula.

Mobs have varying critical modifiers, varying from 1.1 -2.0 x damage. Every 10 crit mitigation you have reduces the critical damage by .1 so all you really need to know is that double attacks hurt and crit mitigation is good. If your crit mit exceeds a mob's crit damage mod, you reduce the crit damage to zero and it will register as a normal noncritical hit.

It is true that without enough critical mitigation, certain mobs will own you. Even simple mobs like Switchmaster and Xebnok will present problems for guilds with no crit mit gear, so if you are just breaking into this content there will be gear checks along the way of your progression. You and the other tanks need crit mit gear first pretty much.

as I said before the RNG is broken.. procs and higher crit numbers tend to concentrate so you'll miss one atatck and nexct attack you'll DA, crit, and have every proc fire off it.

Think of it as rolling a D20, if you get over 4 you'll hit, over 10 you'll fire a proc, over 15 you'll DA, over 17 you'll crit over 18 you'll crit on both. so when you roll a "20" you proc with EVERYTHING and crit and DA and crit on that as well.

So what you are seeing is just a concetration of effects from a lucky "roll"; i.e. the DA is more likly to crit than if you did not DA in the first place.

I think he is talking about the mob getting a DA off on him with a crit.

Yep, thats what i am talking about a mob hitting me with a Crit Double attack for 14k even with a wardens 15% crit buff and two pieces of Crit Mit Fabled armour still get one shoted ( I have about 22K HP Raid buffed) which if what i was told in my first post is true will happen; which means we will have to Tank swap during the fight as no tank will survive unless they have about 50% Crit mit will survive. Chicken & egg have to kill mobs to get Crit mit gear cant survive mob without crit mit gear?
