Default what's reasonable dps ?

Hey guys just curious on what is a reasonable dps number for single target mobs on raids for a paladin, trash mainly. My raidleader just redid our target dps per class and now mines 5k with a hopeful 7k. I've done 7k in a raid with a dirge coercer. I can usually hit 5k with a dirge OR coercer, but my group makeup is usually me(pally), fury, monk, brigand, illy(who won't give me IA) and a mystic. Not a group geared toward my dps at all or even the groups dps.

I usually run about 85-90% melee crit and about 50% double attack and also have the jewel of animosity. With those stats and the ring if the Illy gives me IA i rock the parse especially if i somehow get a damn dirge, but without ia or a dirge or even a decent dps buff i do more around 4-5k.

Should i look for more proc gear? bitch and moan for a dirge? oh and i've bitched and moaned for a dirge or even a troub, no luck so far.

That is a pretty Emo group you are stuck in. RL needs to give your group a proper setup before expecting dps target numbers. You need a dirge, period. Proper raids need 4 bards/ 4 chanters minimum. Sounds like you are parsing as high as you can otherwise.

You shouldn't ever get IA in that group, so quit your bitching.

50% Da + 25% on the JOA proc (which is easy to keep up). If you can get around 75-85 % DA you should be fine. You say you running 90% Melee Crit that sounds good as well. Sounds like you need to focus on DPS mod if you want to see some better numbers....

Use potions and stones (and switch gear) to buff whatever is lacking depending on what group setup/buffs you get. Also, don't be scared to ask for buffs if you actually know what you need and who its best for, 99% of the time you won't get IA with a Rogue/Predator in your group. If you can't parse, the bards will probably get it over you as well..........

Oh about the IA let me be clear...i outparse the brigand and the monk when i have ia. i match their dps when one of them gets ia. So to me it makes more sense putting it on me.

Best way to determine who should/shouldn't get IA. Run ACT, find out who does the most auto-attack DPS without it, and give it to that person (assuming they don't already cap IA or waste part of IA because it caps them).

Before I retired, I was capping DA through procs and then some, so I stopped asking for IA. Just need the right gear, and after the fighter changes, I doubt you'll ever ask for IA again anyway.

With everyone being governed by the same melee mechanics, it basically boils down to who does the most melee damage without it and won't go over the cap in getting it. Ext DPS for melee autoattack is the easiest way however to aggregate all the varying stats you'd otherwise have to take into account (haste, STR, weapon, DPS mod, other damage modifiers based on class, gear, etc., melee crit). Since DA's can't cause extra procs, procs don't matter. IIRC, they can crit, but I could be wrong.

Also, if you're a tank and you might have to go defensive at all during the fight for significant periods of time, best for someone else to get IA depending on your group.

But do you do more melee autoattack DPS without IA, versus them without IA? That's really what matters.

And before anyone asks, you'd also need to take into account DA in your melee DPS. If one of you runs 20% and the other 60%, it skews the results. Closer you get the two players to the same DA, the better measure you have for who should get IA.
