Soloing from 70 to 80

Howdy!

I recently got back into EQ2, and decided I wanted to play my pallie to 80. Last time I used him I was still working on his AA's and getting him geared so he might be eligible to start raiding(he's at 70). In the past iv never soloed anything on my pallie, I never had problems getting groups before - but these past few days it seems like no one's got room for a 70 pallie.

So i started running around in Kylong and began soloing. My dps is quite lacking, these mobs hit frekin hard, and between all the heal tossing I'm having to do and spells to try and dps i just end up power drained after a few fights.

Currently iv got 21 in healing, 21 in wrath, and have the end line of the STR tree. Also been using a shield since I just never happened to get a decent 2hander. I'm pretty sure I'm going about this all wrong.

What AA lines would you recommend to solo as a pallie? and should i go pick up a 2hand to solo with?

drop your heal line and go down the hero line instead

sword and board is fine

448 int line is a must

get better gear

What about after the int line, should I go back down str again?

and I assume is should find stuff with higher int on it since I'm taking spell crit AA's

I would go Strength line to start then grab max spell crits in int. Hero and wraths when you get the points.

I soloed from 70 - 80 almost entirely on autoattack - sure its slow but its steady and reliable. Put on a good TV show on the box crack open a few beers and just enjoy the ride.

Well I could go into getting precisely the right AA spec, timing your attacks just so... or I could just say the truth... without good gear we solo SLOW no matter how many AAs you have - and power problems are always a pain in the backside untill/if you get gear with power procs on it. This is an issue at level 18 this is an issue at level 80.

... but that has pretty much already been said, int 448; sta 448; str line, wraths hero is pretty much the core to any paladin build - Get a good solid sword and shield and start hacking.

Its gonna be a slow ride... so you might as well enjoy it - put your feet up, good TV show on the box and just let autoattack do the work. Sure you could kill mobs quicker but you also spend more time waiting for power to regen.

I did exagerate when I said I did it ALL on autoattack, it was toggle autoattack, throw in a stun occasionally... maybe a ward, LoH (before the power useage was added :/) and move onto the next mob; I didn't need to take a break for power it was just kill move kill move kill move get new quest [repeat]. Whilst everyone else was busting their ass to get to 80 as soon as possible I ended up watching 4 series of TNG, drinking beer and generally relaxing :P

If you really want to race to 80 it woudl be quicker bretraying to SK and then betraying back tbh :P
