Default Best Race for Pally?

Now that we can change our race, which one is 'that little bit better'?

I selected human due to a a long AD&D background where only humans could be pallys. Then I wanted to be Barbarian for the racial traits. Now not sure what is best over all.

Barbarian three reasons:

- Its kind of the best race for tanking
- The paladin class helm looks the correct size and less like an overturned slop bucket
- Plate armoru doens;t look as silly on a barbarian model.

Ogres are the best tank race still.

Actually, with the latest racial ability revamp, barbarians and ogres have pretty much the same abilities. I only see a few minor differences (Ultravision and faster mining vs. 5% run speed buff and lower cost sprint) in the innate abilities section.

Both have the critical bonuses for high-end tanks:
  • 10 second stun immunity
  • +5 to parry, defense, deflection
  • +2 deflection, shield deflection
  • increased physical mitigation

I have to agree with Ganner...

I rarely tank anything harder than WoE, so Kerra for tracking nameds while I power lvl my friends is da way to go...

Else I'd go Barbarian too.. ;)

high elf go.

but to be honest, it doesnt matter what race you choose, they all have benefits for each class even if some has more than others.

choose a class that you enjoy how it looks, because you'll be staring at it for a long time.

Actually I would second that... all tanks should use a larger race; either illusion or actual. It makes things a lot easier when you can see the tanks. I've playing with my dirge a lot more recently and nothing annoys me more than having say a fae tank as you never know where the tank is or what they are doing.
