Can pallies MT raids?

I'm rolling a character (just came back after a 2 year hiatus to WoW) and trying to focus on what that char will be doing in an endgame raid setting.

I'm fine with tanking, dps, or pure support (non-healing) and have heard that pallies don't really get called on to MT raids.

If I roll I pally is it highly unlikely I'd get to MT, or even OT, in a raid?

Yes. personally if your guard isnt doing so hot on agro and you have a good pal there, let him tank. amends FTMFW. pal makes the best offtank IMO just because we can snap agro fucking fast with amends or sigil of heroism and a quick volley of AoEs.

however i doubt many will put you up to MT if they have a good guard/zerker up to the challenge and who is doing well. now if the fight is a pure avoidance fight, pal will do best hands down (shield block AP woot), but since when is that ever the case these days. as for DPS, we got a big boost last update (str/sta/int FTW), just get yourself a dirge or illu and you are ready to rock and roll

Short answer: yes but you'll never get the chance.

If you are really serious about being a MT as a pally its going to take a *lot* of work. I'm still trying to break into the MT role for 2 months now. Well equiped enough to take on *any* KoS zone yet I've never been given the chance for the simple fact I'm a paladin ansd if a warrior joins the raid they are automatically asumed to be "better".

With my Paly I've tanked all of kos raid-zones, fth, mmis (not Mr. Tacticain though) but I never tried EH. But now I'm in a different raiding guild so I don't do tanking anymore.

Yes, pallies can MT. However, we never will be a raiding guilds MT. Guardian's and Zerkers can MT better than we can. We most certainly can do it as well, but as long as it's easy mode for the rest of the raid to have the guaridan tank, that's how it will remain.

I only wish they gave us a better group role for when we weren't tanking.

Can? Yes. Should? No.

We're pretty gimp on ways to save ourself (LoH is one of the lamest abilities ever).
And our single target DPS is weak compared to others.
Do much better on adds than on one target.
