For tanking, i'm messing around with this..

    Maergoth - Tanking

Not sure if the 20% to all attributes from dragon will be widely applicable, since I haven't seen enough fights to know how many targets are engaged. If not many, I'll probably take Cure Spells or Arch Heal again.

    Or

    Maergoth - DPS/PVP

    for DPS/PVP. I haven't settled yet, so we'll see.

Yes, I came back - got bored playing diablo2 again :P

I spent a full weekend researching and testing all the AA to destruction checking out every pally I could think of (if you are a pally I prob stalked you :P) In the end I went with this. A defensive tank build which I like for soloing grouping and if I find a spare few hours random PU raids.

    My Observations:
    • Yes, Strength line remains; Lance whilst good is only a single combat art and whilst my gear is currently pathetic the extra leeway I'll get with reforging/adorning str line will give will more than make up for it.
    • even solo; never found the need for the second point in crusader's faith. DPS scaled up more than health it appears.
    • Tested without Cure Spells; solo and group really felt the pinch of not having that fast cure on DoTs; the taunt is pretty substantial now; plus its blue AoE taunt.
    • I had to waste a few AA to get the 3 AA in divine favor but during testing the delay after triggering was really annoying (and deadly with my fabled HM ToV gear I started with!) as before only 3 AA are needed - shocking how many pallys have 5 points in this still.
    • No Heretics - even in ToV I was contemplating removing this and only remembered to cast it when my dirge was pestering me for higher VCs.
    • No shocks in shadow tree except my insistence on the wonders of Prayer of Healing
    • No Soulclaim in Heroic tree- I despise on death triggers. things like that tend to trigger when you never it...and with the massive increased power pools pretty much zero power problems... except for power drain named - which tend to be single target so... :P)
    • No Manawall - honestly not had the need; tried on a few one-shot scripts and it had the tendency to powerdrain me before killing me. (there may be a few scripts in raid zones where this is handy but I am unlikely to meet them) Zealous Smite still the king here
    • I fking love the damage on the taunts - with the max health triggers on them as well they are pretty much 3rd and 4th in my rotation now (Faithful Cry and Vital Trigger take #1 and #2)
    • Never found the use in the "drop below 2% get DR increase"; the chances of this triggering and being effective - at least as far as I could see were remote.
    • Decided against the "solo" line in the dragon tree mainly due to lack of AA - its a large investment for an ability which would drop if less than 4 enemies against me.
    • Although I did decide in Provocation/Sneering Assault. Pallys biggest hangup is lack of snaps and I wasn't gonna let this one go without me grabbing it - although it will have even less use than the solo line I couldn't pass it up.
    • Full left side of Prestige with extra health; the right side is nice and all but things like instant cast Faith extra duration on stonewall and 35% DR on Sacrament pretty much sold it to me
    • I'm surprised not more Pallys go Arbiter of Justice in every spec 7.5-22.5 Weapon Damage bonus providing you cast those nukes (which aside from Decree are up there in the best DPS/hate rotation anyways) - the other choices being
      • field commander - only really need 1 point in this
      • Faithful Progression - the amount of uncontested is small - and does not stop AoE spell damage where the real damage comes from
      • Faithful Progression - was a tough choice to reduce this to 2 points - but it still seems to be up as often as it can be with the amount of heals firing (so 40% of the time vs 50% of the time for 3 points)
    • The Weapon Damage Mod on the AoM prestige was a no-brainer for me 0.3% of Stamina (say 20k Stamina) is 60 WDB and 60 SWDM. The potency buff is pretty poor (but at least it also factors in SWDM) but when my autoattack is 50% of my parse recently...
    • Diamond skin... really a 3second buff 30seconds after casting and 5% DR... tbh I'd rather take the exra health (which I did do)
... and now you can flame me with everythgin I did wrong :P

Do you really need 10 points in crit chance now?

Either way, I'd probably consider switching back to strength line also. Depends on the amount of new aoe content since i've been gone.

    Maergoth's AAs and Prestige - EQ2U

I was using this when I stepped away. Seemed to be working fine. Paladin tree endlessly depresses me.

figured the extra crit chance would do more for me than improving one CA which does 0.05% of my parse to doing 0.06% of my parse - if that extra 20 crit chance gave me one more legendary crit on my autoattack its *much* more bonus than than hammer ground would give. HG for me has always been just a tool to proc other spells.

    sad but true
