Default PvP Battle Cleric viable?

Hello there. I'm building an inquisitor on a pvp server and wondering if "battle clerics" are viable. Im coming over from EQ1. By battle cleric I dont really mean someone who uses a crushing weapon, but smites with nukes and wears armor.

So is plate armor worth wearing? I read a random post that said it wasnt...but I dont put faith in random posts unless i research and lots of people agree...even then I usually have to figure it out myself.

I've looked at the battle cleric line...here's another set of questions...

What AAs and Master IIs should I take?
The combat arts turn our nukes into melee damage? how does that work? Do I need to put points into STR and get a good crushing weapon? Im really looking hard at doing a mix of the battle cleric line and the detriments line -- something like this:

enhance guilt (decrease resists)
enhanced forced submission (decrease offense)
enhanced distract (stun + reduce hate)
enhance act of belief (instant divine damage)
enhance Imprison (root)
Battle Cleric (increases crushing skill and armor mitigation + decreased power cost)

does that sound like a good pvp build?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 77 templar on PvE, and he's speced for 100% melee crits so I do consider him a batle cleric. When I rolled a healer on PvP though, I picked a fury. I don't think I've ever seen a cleric successfully solo in PvP on a consistent basis. So it depends on whether you intend to solo or group.

In a group, your plan is very viable indeed and you'll be welcome simply because PvP is overcrowed with druid healers. But like the emote says "you gotta sleep sometime". Well, in this case, you gotta travel sometime, and you can't always take a group with you.

You main conumdrum is going to be "how do I defeat swashies and rangers 1 vs 1?". That's gonna be tough with an inquisitor. They might seem like only 2 classes, but sometimes it seems that's all Qs roll .

I don't know enough about the Inquisitor AA tree to help much but maybe someone else can.

You say "battle cleric" to you doesn't mean melee. But I think you should reconsider. When my templar is buffed with over 500 STR he can do some nasty damage on autoattack. Nothing to be sneezed at when you can heal yourself with reactives while doing melee damage with no power cost.

If you want to solo PVP i would not roll a battle priest. For group pvp battle priest is fine--but then again what class is not OK for group pvp? but i mean there is not much real "fair" group pvp in game.

It's mostly who ganks who first, then the gankers get ganked by a even larger gank force. Skill itself--like two groups that are similar in power are very rare to see on PVP server.

Just saying if u choose a battle priest for 1v1 or soloing u won't last long at all-- u will quit. Roll a scout if u want to be able to solo and group pvp -- the reason being track. Even assuming u where a total bad ass unless u can track you will always be at the mercy of the gank. If you going to pick a class that is group dependent tho also think how many people u know that go out PVPing on a regular basis and find out what they are lacking from their PVP group that way you will have a spot in the group more often.-- they might already have two-three priests they use all the time.

To my knowledge it'd probably be best if you went templar instead of inquisitor if you're choosing to make a "Nuking Battle Cleric".

Templar AAs in their EoF tree make their nukes use 50% less power, lower the casting time on their nukes and a final ability so their nukes do 25% more damage... thus allowing for maximum nuking capability.

Inquisitor AAs in their EoF tree turn their nukes into melee attacks which goes well with the 100% crit rate in the KoS tree but not too well for the nuking lifestyle.

a solo, well equipped, properly AA specced PvP templar can seriously tear some shit up. with a PvP spec, Istaril can legitimately hold off (and kill) most small groups of 2-4 by himself. then again, he's probably the best geared cleric worldwide, so that might not be a great comparison. ;)
