Re: Summoners ever getting a fix?
and to address the original point, yes i agree of all the mage classes, summoner is probably the least desirable, with necor's being slightly worse off that conjurors in group pvp (though solo I've found it to be the exact opposite).
And if I were making an uber group, I certainly wouldn't include a summoner. That being said you can mitigate most of the drawbacks and be atleast semi useful. Knowing how to spec and gear yourself out is number one. I always try to take advantage of HP gear if it doesn't hurt my abilities too much, as well as useful proc gear, primarily gear that DOESN'T proc stun or daze since that's something you can do on your own and no sense having people immune to it when you really want to cast it. I'd say as a necro you'd want to saty away from fear procing items generally. Since your stun has no damage component to it, i wouldn't waste casting it in group pvp at all.
lastly, Fd is your friend if you find yourself getting a bulk of the damage. Ofcourse, you really shouldn't be a prime target and if you are it's probably good for your group (and stupidity on the other groups part). If you are finding yourself taking advanatge, worry less about dmg out pu and more on survivalability casting your lifetaps everytime they're up and stay alive while the rest of your group is doing the killing.
I sympathize with other summoners, it's not an uber class for pvp, but you can make more out of the class than I think most give it credit for.
