Spell Avoidance as a skill?

This idea has been aired several times, and the more I think about it, the more I like the idea, especially with the recent complaints about spell resists in T8. Since it's usually buried under piles of complaints about how necros are underpowered, or some other nonsense, it is perhaps not getting any Dev attention. It's debateable whether the Devs would impliment it anyways, but as the saying goes, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease." So, here's the idea:

Impliment a new skill for all players. Call it Spell Avoidance or something. It's the same mechanic as the current defence skill, except for spells. Spell resist become the same as physical mitigation, and have no effect at all on outright resists. WIS no longer increases resists (spell mit) but adds to Spell Avoidance in much the same way that AGI adds to physical avoidance.

For trying to land a spell on someone, your Spell Avoidance would be a contested roll against the caster's Subjugation/Disruption/etc skill, much as defence is contested by C/S/P at the momment.

I think you could also add a seperate skill for mages only which gives them another chance to resist spells. Since they're the masters of casting death and destruction, i don't see any reason why they shouldn't get another skill much the same as the brawler's Deflection skill, which makes them extra hard to land a spell on.

So there you have it folks, get to voting! (And for all you folks who think anyone/anything from Venekor is weaksauce, but you secretly like the idea, I've included an option for you as well.)

Help non sorcerers, sorcerers are ridiculous with manastone and dispersion already, they need no loving. A warlock last week absorbed 40k of my damage after he was at 15% with manasheild and dispersion before I killed him.

Just how would this screw non-warlocks even more? Do you know how often I avoid things based on my defense score? Almost never thats how often. It does happen, but if its more than once or twice in a fight then Im fighting a grey. This change would basically fix resist rates.

Simply put, I don't like the general attitude on Nagafen. I'm sure there are some guilds which dont have the "LAWL you git pwnd n00b" kind of people in them, but I haven't seen one yet. I do have two nagafen toons but I can't stand playing them for more than an hour or so at a time. Besides which, I have too many friends on Venekor.

Sure, and one day if there's no PvP on venekor, I'll think about moving. Until that day though, I'm staying. There's plenty of PvP here for my tastes.

Its much too easy to resist spells in pvp throw in spell avoidance and casters don't stand a chance. I suggest getting higher resist gear.
