Default Mitigation (physical and spell) in pvp

Hey all,

Newbie pvper here, I have lvled a few characters up to 20 on Nagafen but havent decided on a class yet. My question is if physical and / or spell mitigation are working correctly in pvp. It seems like i am being hit by combat arts / spells at this lvl for far more than i should be, based on the abilities pvp checkbox details, and was just wondering if this is due to mitigation not working at the levels listed on your character window (default p key for me), resistance debuffs being strong enough to basically make everyone 0 mitigation, or just me sucking alot. For example, i was crit nuked by a lvl 25 fury's strike of thunder yesterday for over 1900 - i understand he must of been using the 40% bonus aa ability but it still seems high for the abilities damage at master II lvl.

If mitigation is borked, how does avoidance work in pvp? Am I better wearing a lighter armor as a plate class to get higher avoidance just for pvp? Sounds retarded but I have not yet made sense of these things on my own. Thanks for any help you can provide.

1900 is just nuts!!! I hit for about that at lvl 80 with ad3 Lightning Bolt and 900 int. Without vortex but still that is nutz!! Just hurry and lvl Fury stays tough until t5, and from level 50 on they can be killed easily by any other class. T2, T3, T4 all suck as far as balance, and the PvP there sucks as well.

What?!?!
i easily hit for 5k at lvl 80 with A3 bolt......
without EV.....
and i only run like 1000 int...
1900 isnt a lot at 80.....

anyways from what i understand...
((correct me if i'm wrong someone))
Types of Armor no longer effects Avoidance...
ie wearing cloth armor will give you that same amount of avoidance as plate will.... ((unless it's loaded with agi i guess))

We are talking about PvP hits you noob! Shit some people are so fucking dumb. Bolt's average hit in PvP is less than 2k I GUARANTEE THAT. Please learn to read if you are gonna start posting on here, kk?

Of course I hit big bolts in PvE, and in raid hits over 10k are common, but if you weren;t a blubie noob, you'd know that shit gets cut WAY BACK in PvP.

I'm guessing you're talking about a very rare thing that happened rather than the standard. At 24 it might be theoretically possible to hit that hard. Crit, EV, stack your int to cap, debuff resistances, and a really badly equiped target....
Not a common thing.

Anyway to answer your question. Yes, resists and mit work, but they are also exceedingly easy to raise. You should focus more on HP, stats, and avoidance, rather than resists and mit. HP is always the big number to look for as far as non-healers are concerned. Avoidance is nice, but a lot of classes (casters, brigs, assassins, pretty much any class with M1 of an offensive stance) can bypass it pretty easily. Stats secondary because they improve damage, power, etc.

why do you need M1 of an offensive stance? AD3 works just fine. shit, i pvp in full defensive most of the time and i dont have any problem burning through avoidance (except for some brawlers).
