Re: PvP Writs Fucking Suck
I think maybe it would be better if the people whom these issues do not concern or affect in any way whatsoever just stayed out of this discussion.
The writs in their current form, are so ridiculous that most people just aren't going to bother. It would seem as SOE somewhat agrees, because at least the exile component will be removed today.

Re: PvP Writs Fucking Suck
in regards to all the "well, we just cant find any exiles /cry /wrists" whining, i would like to re-re-link everyone back to this thread, and ask them to maybe re-re-read it (and perhaps "feel it out" a bit this time, chew on it a bit. go ahead, roll it around on your tongue. mmmm, tasty? maybe not filet mignon, but it certain is tender and delicious!)
i don't know if the dev responsible for PvP writs read that thread as it was developing, or perhaps had similar ideas of their own even before it was posted, but requiring kills from 2 distinct opposing factions is a great way to entice players to balance the population in those factions. if there's not enough incentive to go exile (other than the widespread and essentially ubiquitous availability of hostile con PvP showing up in your group's track window on this fucking *PVP* server that we all play on), then throw in a bit more carrot-on-a-stick reward or something.
i wouldn't be too saddened if the specific class requirement was removed, but with the writ ratios requiring 2:1 opposingcity-to-exile, you could justify exiling about 100-150 of the higher playtime T8 players and everything would be JUST DANDY.
but hey, that's just my 2.2 cents, baby!

Re: PvP Writs Fucking Suck
I really have absolutely no idea why you think that having exiles in the writs would persuade people to go exile. They get annoyed that they can't get tokens, so they betray so it's literally impossible to get tokens? And now they're stranded without guilds and with nothing to do but aimlessly try and PvP all day.
How does that work?
And again if they didn't expect us to be able to get tokens anymore on Venekor, why the fuck bother having this server at all?
Yes we had a chance to transfer but the week of free transfers the server was fucking heaving and how were we to know that everyone would leave on the very last day of free transfers?

Stranded? Aimlessly try and PvP all day? Why would a bunch of random people exile and then try to reform? I'm talking about groups of people within guilds, or entire guilds, exiling. When 6, 12, 20+ of your usual PvP crew exiles with you, and you all betray to the classes you want, and join up with some of the others groups of people that are exiling, and then go out PvPing... that doesn't sound quite so aseptic like you're describing it, does it?
The token issue is null and void for exiles. The draw to going exile is having access to all of the classes to construct your PvP groups, but primarily the fact that literally everyone else out there wants (and is able to) kill you. Everyone's all like "rah rah rah! we want more PvP! PvP is dying!" and meanwhile they're sitting in a faction where half the people on track aren't even attackable.
Lots of people cry out for a FFA PvP server, and all the benefits that come with it. Well guess what, the mechanics are already in game! Just exile yourself and viola, PvP heaven!

I agree completely. They opened up server xfers a while back, and everyone gravitated towards the highly populated server. Everything else turned into a wasteland. I'm sorry, and it sucks. They should open up free xfers off Venekor again and let everyone else come over.

Unfortunately for alot of people who pvp, title is more important then anything else. If you exile, you lose your title, waah...get a new one and earn it without your faction merchant nik-naks. I don't think half of qeynos or freeport would be able to survive without 25 evac items from city vendors or a pumice stone for every fight. Tbh, exiling to pvp is on the one hand, opening up the target environment, but on the other hand, learning to fight with only your skills and whatever gear that currently drops on all servers available to you. Most of the people that play, would not like that sort of challenge.

I really don't think that anyone truly wants an FFA ruleset server. Reasons being, if everyone was a target, with tokens or writs making all targets an acceptable donation to your pvp fabled fund, there would be an overwhelming amount of farming alts, each other, or whatever going on. In addition, 90% of the server couldn't handle not being able to use blue background aoes if they were in an outside group. It would end up being a clusterfuck of people killing the wrong people and lots of tears again.

What is happening, imo to hurt the pvp servers more then anything else is the way people play. Between the griefing of soloers, and the cheap tactics employed by the people who call themselves skilled, and 20% of the playerbase being a rogue with another 20-30% scattered between the old fotm predators and new fotm warlocks then fights are becoming very unfun for all. It's either too easy to kill someone or overwhelmingly hard for those that are either casual players or not in the specific 4 button ganker classes. Both of these lead to boredom, frustration or just plain hatred for the game. The old timers stop playing and the ones who persist are there more for PVE then PvP. Or if they are around for PvP they only want to play on a stacked team. The game has become stagnant without an effort to balance out the playability of each class under a pvp ruleset.
Regardless, i may be horribly wrong in my opinions, but it's the way i see it.

It does, because PvP on venekor is fucking boring when all you have to look forward to is racking up your killcount or your title. There's a really good reason that most of the exile guilds leave Venekor after only a month or two of being exiled.
Having rewards gives us incentives to take more risks, gives us a reason to go out there and kill people. Sure good fights are fun, but they're few and far between and if we're not out killing random schlubs because they have precious tokens, we're not out at all.

I would have thought the incentive for pvping would be...hmm...the pvp. Tokens, gear, whatever you think you need for an incentive is ridiculous. Did you roll on a pvp server because there was an item in development you heard about that would only be available to pvp servers? I would think not, you rolled on a pvp server to pvp. If you don't want pvp...there's what? 20 bluebie servers or so to play on?

Re: PvP Writs Fucking Suck
I wasn't on last night, but I heard the writs don't give any credit for killing exiles anymore. At all. Can anyone confirm that? If true, it's hilarious.
