Re: Raiding in FP and Qeynos
No, it really isn't. There is almost no possible amount of gear that could let someone whos group is:
Dirge, Guard, Warden, Defiler, Templar, Coercer
out dps someone with:
Dirge, Zerker, Inquis, Illus, Mystic(that mythical is fucking WIN), brig.
With similar to exact weapons, maybe a few pieces of jewelry difference. Everyones DPS goes up. But there are some people that are just plain that dumb, in all guilds, when it comes to DPSing. Well, maybe not in blue servers, because of the global recruiting ability.

Re: Raiding in FP and Qeynos
Oh I'm not totally disagreeing I guess. Gear does make a difference. But when gear is close, the only difference should be buff groups. At that point, you can tell who really doesn't cut it.

Re: Raiding in FP and Qeynos
I agree with that. If gear is close the only difference should be groups. Gear makes alot bigger difference than most raiders will admit though.

Re: Raiding in FP and Qeynos
there is most definitely a huge difference (skill/performance wise) between your retards, your average players, and your exceptional players. the retards are just there to ride on people's coat tails and take absolutely no responsibility for their actions or their performance. the average ones care a little bit about what they're doing and will take some time to set up hotbars that are conducive to DPS'ing, will know their class pretty well, and will generally at least pay attention on raids.
the exceptional players care greatly about their DPS and will routinely modify their cast order to try to maximize output, will use ALL resources (potions, temp adorns, other clickies, etc) available to them, know their class through and through, know most OTHER classes well enough to know how to react when certain things happen on raids, will offer advice (even when it's unwelcome) to those around them when they see things going not so smoothly, and genuinely care about the success of every person on the raid. that extra "push" to excel in all aspects makes a HUGE difference on a parse, or when things start to go south on a raid and fast reaction time is required.

The leet players seek out and acquire the quest and instanced gear to make their dps increase. A lot of raid gear isnt necessary, for my class at least, to parse quite well. I traded spell dmg for crit gear as I obtained raid loot. The spell dmg gear wasnt that far off of the crit gear for max dps. Paiks how many players in your guild have taken the time to farm the bloodthirsty choker? Thats what seperates the weaksauce from the average from the leet. An obsessive compulsion to farm gear to make their deeps bigger.
There are always exceptional players for each class the bordohs, pumpkins and aurroras which I think is what borias was talking about. Each of these is capable of obscene dps that leaves everyone else scratching their heads wondering how they do it.

Re: Raiding in FP and Qeynos
Bloodthirsty choker is a horrible piece of loot now that you cant switch it out. I do agree with you though on the topic of good players farming loot to give them that tiny bit more. There are atleast 3 that I know of, spread out over the 4 guilds which are part of the raiding alliance in Freeport atm. Bleh, not even close to enough IMO.
