I read these posts and I've spent some time in Haven and factioned, I also am a very active PvPer on all my toons, so I do feel qualified to make some evaluations most players can't.


1)Players in Haven are better or more skilled

Well this is kinda true. The average exile who PvPs is a very expierienced knowledgable player. We have players just as good in the factions for sure, but the average exile who pvps is better. People who play casually just don't exile.

2) Raid gear is so much more uber and OP and exiles have better gear

At the present time this just isnt true. There are some great VP pieces of gear, but RoK has introduced some really amazing Legendary instance pieces that anyone can get easily. Yeah there are gonna be exiles who thru great raid attendance have some amazing gear, but they attended alot of raids for it. On the flipside in a faction you can have some good t1 raid gear, all the instance stuff, and a couple pieces of token gear and be equally well equiped for PvP. Factions will never have the mit, or stats that some exiles have for example, but I think some of the ridiculous PvP stuff makes up for that easily.

3) Raiding is easier in exile

Well it is easier to raid with an exile guild, this one is obvious. What I think thoug alot of people miss is that until Onyx starts downing Avatars, or Tangrin, the gear they are getting is all stuff we can deal with in PvP. Now I don't know what's gonna happen when they all get Mythical weapons, but at the present you may be able to clear alot more content in Haven, but your just clearing content cuz thats what you like to do, the gear isn't really OP and we have PvP stuff.

4) Exile is easymode

People need to stop saying exile, exile, exile. There are two guilds that are raiding in VP folks just two. So sure it maybe easier to raid in exile, but only two guilds and probably 60-70 players in all of exile are raiding anything tougher than what we are doing in the cities.


5) Factioned raid guilds suck, and thats why they can't progress

Well this statement has some truth to it, but the circumstances have made it this way. Factions really should have all the classes, I think that is the way raiding was intended to be done, and we should have that oppurtunity in the cities. Having said that, Onyx and Kraken have attracted the best raiders and raid leaders on the server, so with that personel, and all the classes, yeah they are killing us all in content progression. Alot of good factioned raiders get stuck in a Faction for awhile, and the people aren't so serious about it, so they exile to get with a great raid guild with al classes. See how the problem is self-perpetualizing?



To fix all this and make EVERYONE stop bitching, just make all classes availible to both factions. BAM! Problem solved, it's so fucking easy I don't know why the fuck SOE doesnt do it?

I clipped off the main points you posted, they are all grounded in truth and I have no beef with them. You actually made an honest, fair assessment of something on this server for once, and I congratulate you on that. =)

However, to address the final question in your post... the reason they haven't done this is because the PvP servers were created as a faction vs faction environment, with separate things available to each city. If you remember back to EQ2's early days too, even on PVE servers the two cities were rigidly divided (you needed to use fences for cross faction brokering, etc). The chat channels (crafting, traders, etc) have always been divided between Good/Evil, even though universal level-tier channels were available from the start on PVE.

The game's lore was developed from the ground up around the two cities. The fact that exile has developed into a "real" faction on PvP servers stems from an entirely different game design issue, and giving all classes to both cities is not the answer.

In fact, I don't think there needs to be an "answer" here, because an "answer" assumes that there's a problem. The devs dealt with the emergence of the exile faction by not making any PvP-specific benefits available to exiles, and that in itself takes care of any imbalance. The PvP gear available to the cities is essentially equivalent or exceeds endgame raiding gear (for purposes of PvP)... and it doesn't take all of the infrastructure of a hardcore raid guild to obtain any of it.

Players know exactly what they're getting into when they roll a character on Nagafen. There are fair and balanced paths you can follow depending on what choices you make for your character's advancement. Raiding is possible in any faction, with the right people behind the keyboards every night.

I simply don't see any reason to drastically change the paradigm.

Nice post Dank pretty unbiased all round and I agree its not impossible to raid with a city-faction its just more difficult than it is with a exile based force.
