The comparison was between people pvping for X amount of time, and people raiding for X amount of time. To say the PvPers now have to raid T1/2 to gear up, while getting their PvP gear kind of borks the comparison.

Look, I don't like the current state of writs either. But to snap a couple screen shots and say everyone who is in immunity is waiting 20 mins for their next writ is simply wrong.

There was some pretty good pvp out last night. I only got 15 tokens in two hours... but there was a bit of action in that time.

There is just no way everyone in your group is going to be on the same writ timer, so there is always some benefit to constantly PvPing.

that must have been taken about 5 minutes after my group called back to haven. we saw the same shit for the ~90 mins that we were trying to PvP in ROK. people just sitting around in immunity, breaking only when their writ cooldown is up or when they know they can massively outnumber another group and then evac+wait again after it.

it's pretty obvious what the majority of players on Nagafen are here for, and it's not the excitement of Player vs Player. they want tokens, they want fabled gear without having to raid for it, they want the same shit that the "bluebies" do, except they don't want to (or can't) organize themselves well enough to get it through PVE. so they submit themselves to hours of bullshit like this.

no wonder so many people say they don't enjoy this game... if i wasn't here for the PVP action and decided to sit around in immunity for half of my play-time every evening, i'd be pretty fucking disgruntled too.

here's an idea, if you want to kill raid mobs, then go at it with some gusto and do it properly. if you want to skip raiding and PvP, then go at it with some gusto AND DO IT PROPERLY. sitting around in immunity just because there's no tokens in it for you for the next 12 minutes is the cowards way out.

exiles get NOTHING out of PvP except for the sheer excitement of it (which is the reason most people claim to have started on Nagafen in the first place), and you still see plenty of them out there fighting.

Gotta love when someone in an exile raid guild that raids 6-7 night a week complains that factions aren't here to pvp. Nothing at all hypocritical about that.

If they took away all raid loot, would you guys be raiding 7 nights a week? If you say yes you're lying.

The point is that MMO's are about character progression. To go raid the majority of the time you play and then complain that the specific time that you want to pvp you can't find some is unbelievably stupid. To then complain that the people you want to pvp against should only be there to pvp and not progress their characters while you spend the majority of your time progressing your character instead of pvping simply makes you look like a huge douche.

i'm not saying you shouldn't progress your character while PvPing, i'm saying that, if you don't raid and you primarily PvP, then neglecting PvP just because you can't progress (get tokens) for a few minutes seems pretty weaksauce to me.

what's wrong with just constantly roaming around PvPing, and picking up writs every 20 minutes as they refresh? that's the intent of the system. the devs, however, grossly misestimated the playerbase. they assume that people are here for the joy of PvP... but most of them aren't. they are pretty obviously driven almost exclusively by tokens and titles.

tell me this: would most of the people on nagafen still be playing if there was no PvP gear, no titles, (and no raid instances, to balance the raider part of the equation)? pft, not likely.

for as much shit as exiles take for being bluebies because we raid for our gear, it's really pretty embarassing how "blue" most city faction people actually are. it's the pot calling the kettle black, through and through.

i'd be happy if they:
1) completely removed the fame system
2) gave cities all classes
3) tripled the amount of tokens needed for PvP gear (and made it available to exiles, creating a true 3rd & equal faction in conjunction with #2)
4) removed the ability to get writ updates in a raid
5) implemented a FULL FFA ruleset -- even your own faction is attackable if not grouped... a complete removal of all faction boundaries.

but they've said they'll never give the cities access to all classes. if they implemented this ruleset on a brand new, fully Free For All server, i'd leave Nagafen in a second and play there full time. that specific ruleset would wipe away most incentive to solo or raid for PvP, and leave behind the sparkling gem of EQ2 PvP: solid, 6v6 action.

When raiding is stupid, you complain, but you still raid. Everyone will buy another account to have a crafting alt while waiting for writs to cycle, it is PURE GENIUS by SOE.

not like crafting has even been a big driver for subscription $$ for SoE, but just to play devil's advocate here... why wouldn't people just /camp to an alt on their current account if they wanted to craft while waiting for writs to cycle?
