New Player from a experienced MMO pvp background

hello eq2 players,

as the title says i am a experienced pvper from other games such as world of warcraft/Tibia/Age of Conan/Warhammer/Diablo 2-(lol)/Old Runescape and pirates of the burning sea.

i love playing games not only for there pvp but also some pve (instances and raids) i do like leveling and learning the storyline of the game as well...

anyways with all that said, im wondering about classes able to pvp well and be reliable for doing instances and raids. Ive already picked my server which will be ofc Nagafen, i have a few rls on there that play fury and something else that i dunno....anyways i dont really want to hear about why pvp is terrible on eq2 or why i shouldnt play it or should switch to another game....i want to hear about positive only information about solo pvp...group pvp....what can i expect at lower levels from pvp....

also im the type that likes to play a class that takes alot of skill to play well in pvp and makes people actually respect the playstyle and skill you show while fighting...on the other hand i dont want to play a class so gimp that its frustrating to even attempt pvp.

so basically any help on deciding classes and such will be very much appreciated.

also to note...i was just talking to someone about the troub class...was wondering if i could get more information about them in pvp...also i dont want to play a class that is overly played on nagafen because it just doesnt make it as much fun for me...thanks

mystics can be pretty beast at pvp, and there aren't a lot of shamans, so you should be able to find a group, or raid easily at high levels. To pvp effectively however they need to be melee specced. When i Battle on my mystic i tend to use the water walking spell and you can actually drown people if you lure them out far enough and stun and slow them. Mystic pvp requires strategy not just casting one or two spells.

Troubs are a bard, not the best for pvp although they have a large amount of group debuffs that target resists attack speed, dps etc. They are good utility and as far as I know there aren't a whole lot of troubs on any server. They can be good dps in raids if the player knows what they are doing, although it's hard to find a troub who parses well, talk to kithicor.rhapsode if you want spell orders and such.

Dirge would be a better bet for pvp soloing, they are higher dps with similar debuffs and abilities to a troub.

Brigand or Swashbuckler are my favorites for pvp because you can keep the target stun locked for a good 15 seconds with the brigand, which is enough time to kill them, and swashbucklers can keep em stun locked for a bit too.

it doesn't matter if you've pvpd in other games. that's exactly like the darkfall gheys are saying "omg I plaid teh ultima onlinez I are skillz0rs@darkfail bcuz ov daht111"

Congratulations on the stupidest post I've ever read, Thetin.

Troubs are a very good solo PVP class, as well as group. They aren't so good early on due to not getting mez until 50, but can still definitely be successful pre-mez. Once you get mez and POTM.. it's all over.

Dirges are tougher to be successful at. Your damage is pretty terrible for the most part in comparison to the other scouts. However, once you get your fabled or mythical epic... let's just say the ability to near one shot someone is pretty handy.

Mystics are definitely excellent 1v1. And you don't need any tricks like Mr. Dumbass above said to win.

Brigs and swashbucklers are very easy to PVP with, considering you can just slam your face into the keyboard and kill someone.

thanks for the reply ratface...im playing evil side so now im trying out defiller i do like the playstyle thus far....but i am wondering is it going to be about the same as playing a mystic on good side? should i still go melee? thanks for the replys.

o and Mo0rbid...why even post something idiotic like that? i didnt say i was going to pwn everyone cuz i pvped on other games....just letting people know that i understand basic pvp skills.....idiot.

Defiler is harder to succeed at later on, since you don't have a melee spec your damage is not quite as good.

Melee cast times > spell cast times, obviously.
