You can say and think what you want about SOE but they aren't THAT dumb. What we now see is a big "summer sale", nothing more.
Best thing we can do is /feedback in game... and hope that I'm right and you are wrong

I definitely wouldn't call them dumb, but they certainly aren't marketing the game towards the hardcore playerbase. Is that dumb? Perhaps to us because when we see ourselves as wanting to quit because the game isn't what we want it to be we forget that the game is separated into two distinct groups: casual and hardcore. Losing our money is clearly bad for business, ya?
Combined, there is still a much larger percentage of subscribers that don't have the time/skill and/or motivation to raid anyway; yet they still cry that they want access to the best gear available.
I've seen TSO content tear undergeared players to shreds (1 shots, I play a druid, its bs). Gearing up a raid isn't easy. Unless (a) you've had it on farm as a guild (as many PvE guilds have) or (b) You're on PvP
It probably doesn't help that there isn't an overwhelmingly number of "high end pvp" types on test/betas testing the shit either. I mean who do you think is more apt to be on the SOE forums, the guy who just raped face telling the entire server how he owned x class at x level, or the guy that just got his ass penetrated by a x class -x levels below him? I bet the high level noob over the low level pro.
So, the real question is: What is SOE's main focus as far as content goes, what do the majority of the customers want?
I think we all know the answer to that one. It may not work out the way we want it to, but EQ2 isn't going anywhere as the vast majority doesn't "get it" as far as the hardcore mentality goes. They'll keep playing, especially as we inch closer and closer to true easymode, if we haven't already crossed the threshold.
Working months to kill a mob, to get an item, and to be the first to do so? Wahhh who cares, that class/item is too overpowered, nerf pls. Hardcore mentality seems to be losing it's appeal overall and I'm really not sure why. More and more people playing, more and more people wanting to win, more and more people not willing to work for it.
Just how I see it. Personally I'm gonna wait and see. As long as I'm the only one that has the gear I want for a few months come next expansion I'll be happy. Rape some face for a while, and if its truly as easymode as it is now as far as PvP gear goes (unless PvE gear is FAR superior), I may try another game.
