Thread: Illy or coercer? why? or something completely different?

I play nagafen, I currently have a 31 warden. He's decent but I want to roll a pvp alt. I had my heart set on a chanter ever since some illy mezzed me and had me dead before I could click anything. I was like "Whoa! I want one of those!".

The next part was deciding which subclass..
So, I stroll on the flames looking for a thread that could tell me what I wanted to hear, but no such luck. I've heard illusionists are now considered buffbots. </3

I actually met up with the illusionists opposite alligned character, advertising for one v ones and he tells me coercer is best for solo. I'm just not sure though, illy seems cooler.. and coercer cant burn stuff too hard until 40 with their 2nd spell reactive. <- I haven't really tooken the time to learn the illy spells, and what they do.. I'll go check them out after I post this thread.

Tell me what you guys think I should go. or should I go an entirely different class? I mainly solo but I just found a t4 group/guild with my warden, and theyre awesome. So, ill be sticking in t4 with BOTH of them, until my guild decides to teir up.

Share with me why illusionist; why coercer, or you can tell me theyre trash and tell me I should roll something else. No. I don't want to roll a pally, sk, or bruiser. Its either between chanter, or scout. (Leaning more towards sin or bard) maybe, a zerk. maybe. (;

Tell me what you guys think. Give me some tips. Show me some specs. Persuade me. Have fun with it.

Alright its Christmas I will give you a response to help you out.

First, if you got burned down by a t4 illy than you need to:
a. Carry Stifle/Stun pot
b. Spec Serenety
c. Farm toughness gear

Because Illys should not be burning anything at that tier.

Honestly Illys really cannot start turning it on until t7-t9. A t4 coercer can still be incredibly lethal with the right spec, Int/Agi and Coercice Healing Line. Between Destructive Mind and Hostage you are getting a ton of reactives off and with the lack of group cures it is pretty easy to burn people before they can save themselves, even at t4. The only instance when an illy is going to outshine a coercer in the lower tiers is if you are rolling with a very powerful group every day. If not I wouldnt even touch an illy unless you plan on being 70+. It is going to frustate you beyond belief, remember the only illy reactive must be melee range and that generally is a bad idea fighting scouts/tanks. If you are a very pro and experianced player you might be able to pull it off but I am getting the drift that you are a little newer so deffinetely roll a coercer.

They can do a lot of dps, assuming the two classesnukes are very similiar in damage, their reactives are what set them apart. Illy gets 3 triggers of Prismatic Chaos while the Coercer can get 3 out of Despotic Mind and 5 out of Hostage. Both coercer reactives hit harder than the illy reactive at that lvl.
