    Default Fame is Fail....

I am aware that some of you will disagree with my post, but hear me out then flame P

Gonna try to make this short but I for one would like to see fame abolished completely. In Short you assemble your group knowing your outnumbered but for the sake of the pvp trudge on. 1 group vs. x3 for example. We won !! yay you have gained 15 points of fame, overcame the zerg excellent work.... Now the other side assembles a bigger zerg, Oh well got rolled and lost 60 points....

Ok well with a hunter title I have 60 points to loose vs. 15 points to gain facing an x3. I personally don't give a rats butt about the current title system but my point is as difficult as it is to legitimately gain fame alot of people will protect the title and hide or only engage when you only have a sure win...This is paramount, this system only promotes fame hugging or engaging if 100%. The true pkers will gladly sacrifice title but should you be punished for facing greater numbers? Not rewarded but punished?

This to me is the biggest joke soe has come up with to "promote pvp" Flame away I expect it but my point is no less valid.

I hope some of you feel the same way, I know there are similar posts but I implore you to feedback/petition/post. Will they listen prob not, but if enough complain then maybe just maybe... Sorry for long post /rant off

Fame is dumb right now as it rewards people who only engage situations they are guaranteed to win while people who can actually play their toon are not

I couldn't agree more would rather see fame abolished completely or replaced with a static reward such as titles based on number of kills, kill death ratio, or pvp achievements ...kill streaks etc. Would even prefer wearing the badges on titles or something that could still show your pvp achievements. Example would be **Mhota General** as stars on my name, a diff font something of that nature ( just off the top of my head)
Reward people for pvp'ing ,positive incentives, kills for rank period.. If fame is to decay make it due to not pvping only! This will help stop the betrayers looking for easy zerg updates, it would be beneficial to be on the outnumbered side as there would be more chances at kills...

rewards based on kill/death ratio would still encourage running etc

The issue isn't the fame system so much as it is the incredible disparity between unranked and ranked players. Title doesn't really mean anything to me, but unranked players should award 20-30 points if they want to keep hunters at 60.

The larger issue is the lack of objective-based open world PVP. IMO, warfronts should take old zones and turn them into constant events that reset like once a week. Have control points, reward participation, provide a reward to the winning faction. After the week is over, calculate the participation of both factions in the event and provide the under-participating with an enhanced "tower buff" that helps to balance the factions for the subsequent week.

Server bonuses could be as cool as a one faction XP buff, access to a limited time PVP vender with new items and/or older items at reduced prices, plat and yellow shards, XP potions, etc.

Something like a weeklong PQ where your reward scales from participation (both on the winning and losing side)

Let my clarify Exagon, I apologize .Your correct that any system that removes fame for participating in pvp is going to promote fame hugging. I meant that there are the mechanics in game to track scout kills, mage kills, amount of pvp writs, and kill streaks etc. That those would be more legit badges of honor.

The idea that one could in some way see the accomplishments, such as customizable fonts, unique suffix titles whatever would do more to promote pvp. You have earned 25k kills in pvp you should be able to show that is some way. Make is desirable to have those accolades and people will strive for them imo. Having the choice of what you show to the world lets you highlight your strengths.

Was just a thought on a solution....not by any means 100% correct

This is a long-time argument. I don't think they are going to change anything, sad to say. Back when the servers opened, before most of the population understood or cared about fame and titles and whatnot, open zone PvP was a brawl. It was some of the best fun I've had in this game to date.

Once everyone kind of got their footing and realized that there was min/maxing for titles and items, then the running, city hugging, fame hugging and exploiting started. But for about two months it was golden, and people couldn't wait to log in.

If there was some way to return everyone to that time - pvp here would be a blast.

solo pvp, solution created. You can now gain slayer. Try not to fight when outnumbered. Ask questers who's been out there ganking them. Pretty easy to find pvp, if you know where to look and what to avoid. Now if only you can win your solo pvp matches with over 6:1 ratio and you can gain slayer.

I agree mostly, but removing fame isnt the answer...There IS a clear and obvious answer however....:

    Unranked dies loses 6 pts
    Hunter dies loses 12 pts
    Slayer dies loses 18 pts

    etc in increments of 6

Titled players far more likely to engage now.

    FIXED

ATM those who pvp a lot and stand up for their faction are all on the unranked/hunter border. Jett Drozag Dryken Zampuric Trule etc etc.

The current system rewards those who gank, leach and never engage a meaningful fight

BTW devs dont read this forum..should be posted on official site..o wait...I did propose the above on official site...no response....

Thnx for all your input, I prob will sticky the post to the official sight but as you have mentioned it will fall on deft ears. Certainly would favor a downgrade in the amount of points lost. I just think pvp was a lot better when people fought for the sake of fighting. Fame was a ancillary benefit and Overseer at the least meant you earned( some ) of your stripes.

Galoro is 100% correct in that the true pvp'ers have to abandon titles to play the game. I cant imagine this is what was intended, If you happen to be on the winning side your fame will accrue. If not you will face superior numbers most of the time and die alot more frequently thus perpetuating imbalance.

I dont pretend to know how to fix pvp, alot smarter people than I have made solid ,well written, concise, informed posts to no avail. I guess I just see a great game slipping into mediocrity when a few modifications and a dev team in touch with the player base could put things back in at the least the right direction

Thnx again I will deff take some of the ideas and feedback here and attempt to pass them to the official sight. I can only hope someone is there to listen...Exorcize
    in futility ......?
