Once you get the next version, All future updates will be detected every time you open ACT. The current version everyone is using is not aware of the ACT hosting environment, so will not do the automatic update.

It will give you a yes/no prompt on whether you want to update to the newest version - have to code and test this still, though, so I don't have more specifics.

I'd be willing to contribute if you set up a github. Really appreciate the work you've put in

Thanks, and much better things are to come! I'm keeping the source closed right now, but I might set up a github in the future for issue tracking at least. If you have ideas for things to add/change, definitely send me a PM or post here. In the longer term, I haven't decided whether to open up the source, I guess it depends on whether my interest level wanes (in which case I will), or if things stabilize enough that I can clean up the code for other people to contribute. At the moment, just changing the order of some minor things in the log entry matching code could have a major impact on the results. Other things such as new data columns or regionalization might be possible, though, but definitely not until the core log parsing is ready.

I'm going to download the plug in and test it out on our raids over this coming week, i'm really excited about this, ACT has always been my favourite log parser software. Thanks for all the work you are putting in.

Will keep you updated if I encounter any issues.

    Hi,

First of all, thanks for the great work you did on this plugin.
Btw, is there any chance to have others game langages supported (Like French) ?

I can help with french translation if needed.

I'm not sure how SE feels about log parsers and memory access, so if you ever get to do the latter, opening the source might not be a terribly good idea. In case you do anyway, a test suite should help keep things easy. I'd be happy to contribute as well, should you get it on github at some point.

I posted a thread on the official boards about improving the logs. Doesn't seem to be gathering much attention, most likely because most people don't care. I thought you guys would find it more interesting, and perhaps help it get to the right eyes.

I'm just another player like you all, I don't know anyone @ SE, and since this tool is not officially approved, I'm not going to be contacting them about improving their logs.

That said, you wrote an excellent post and covered just about everything. One thing to mention - crits are included in the logs with the damage lines for regular combat actions and regular heals. Parry & Block are also in there, which is nice, and I include them in the parser.

While the logfiles are in pretty bad shape, it turns out that it is possible to reconstruct the combat pretty well. I'm looking forward to releasing the next version tomorrow or wednesday, which does a much better job of matching AOEs up to the correct skill for the correct player. Here's a graph of a warrior's Overpower & Vengeance hits/procs from a run of AK I did a month ago. Note that the warrior, dragoon, bard, and whm were all (at times) AOE-ing simultaneously while the tank received incoming damage from multiple targets, and the log lines really are all mixed up badly. Below, though, you can see when he puts various buffs up, when he crits, etc, just from the graph. There were 20,000 log lines parsed, and the parser could not correctly match 6 ticks of vengeance and 1 fall on Demon Wall, and 7 absorbs on the tank from bloodbath. These all stay as 'unknown'. A pretty high degree of accuracy is possible with what we have, and I'm hoping when it goes out to the wild, I get more feedback and it can be turned even further.

That's not what I meant. Anyone knowing someone at SE would be awesome, but unlikely. But by trying to voice our concern for the logs, the community management is bound to send it upstream at some point. For that, more people need to get in on the discussion, which is why I posted the thread here and on reddit (where it's being downvoted for some reason).

Honestly, your plugin does an amazing job. If only we could access precise data for pets and dots, we'd be pretty much set. But while we're at it, we should ask for all data from combat to be precisely and accurately logged.

Hey, do you think we could get this plugin working with ACT's history database?

Also, could you split multiple runs of the same zone? Like, when you're spamming Wanderer's Palace runs, have each run in it's own "zone", along with the time it took to complete?
