Default Inana's Freeport to Qeynos Betrayal Guide

by wesblueeyes in the Quests and Live Events forum

Last updated-January 17th, 2007

Note: (YOU WILL FIND A FAQ AT BOTTOM OF THIS GUIDE FOR BETRAYAL)Before you start these quests go out and buy a lot of invis totems if you cannot invis yourself (and have the money) because it will make betraying VERY easy. If invisiblity is just not an option be aware that there are guards that hang out at the gate into West Freeport and others that roam. They range in levels and there is even the epic one near the NFP entrance. If the guards become a serious problem remember you can go into the Sprawl then zone into the Serpent Sewers and then finally into the sewers beneath Freeport. Also a lot of this guide focuses on doing the quests invisible. If you are a support class trying to do this solo without invis, it is recomended you find a partner instead.

Starting your betrayal

First off you have to seek out one of the squires in Freeport to get your first quest designed to test the waters. You can find squires in EVERY zone in Freeport, one of the easiest to find is a kerran on the first floor of the inn in EFP. Once you find a squire they will have you go to West Freeport to meet up with a gnome in the Blood Haze inn to recieve your first task. NOTE: You must be at least level 10 to start betrayal.

Listening in for QeynosThis quest is really easy, just run around to where it tells you and place listening devices for the first part. Note: I found that jumpin on tables or other objects is required for you to get the message you need to place the listening device most of the time.

Timing the Night Shift

This quest must be done at time night time and unlike the Qeynos to Freeport quests it seems the spot you normally need to be at to listen to the gaurds is almost point blank. All the guards only come out at night time and they are all within WFP. The first one is near the EFP entrance and the last will take you near the Commonlands entrance. If you have EQ2maps this will help you find all the listening spots in WFP.

Resetting the Militia

This quest simply requires you to go to the Militia house in WFP, go up to the second floor and on the wall near the stairs as you come up you will see a bulletin board much like the one you used to have to use to sell items.

Destroy the Weapons Cache

This is the final quest you get before you get booted to Haven, after talking to the gnome in the Blood Haze Inn you are instantly teleported to an instanced version of the Militia house. First off pick up the bomb next to the two squires and head upstairs. The aggro radius for the guys in this zone is close, you pretty much have to step on their toes for them to attack you. Attack the named guy on the second floor to obtain a key and keep going up to the third floor. Make your way back to the stockpile, go into inventory and examine the bomb, place the bomb. Now right click on the bomb and set it off to get your update.

Head back down to the squires and grab bomb #2. Use the key to open the door and go down to the jail cells. Release the prisoners first and then place the bomb in the cell with supplies just like you did the first one. When you make your way back up to the ground level to leave you are surprised by some NPC guards who attack you and knock you out, when you awake you are in Haven an exile.

Welcome to Haven

Now that you are in Haven simply take the tunnel leading to Nektulos Forest and make your way to the commonlands. Once there make your way towards the West Freeport Gate, in a guard tower near the road towards the gate is Gil McMartin (-927, +15), the npc you will now start taking quests from to earn faction.

Want to make this quick and painless? Do the quest The Old "Switcheroo" over and over. It earns you +5k faction with Qeynos, only requires you to go to WFP, and is easy if you have invis. If you do not have invis or you are too low of level to use totems, then do the quest Extract the Defector.

PVP Tip: (Brought to you by Dolamaine) Do the captains ring one if you encounter a lot of resistance in WFP. If you die and revive in the thundering gorge revive spot, you can go CL-Sprawl-Sewers-Theives Way-South FP- instance and be immune the entire time except for a small part of the sewers.

The Old "Switcheroo"

The instance to this zone is found behind the Coalition of Tradesfolk in WFP near the EFP entrance. Once inside (make sure you are invis) simply click on 6 clipboards on each floor inside the zone. Only on the bottom floor are there mobs who can see invis and if you are canny enough its easy to click the boards near them without aggroing them. Once you have all 24 simply zone out and return to Gil McMartin for your reward.

Extract the Defector
This quest will send you into South Freeport. Go to the 'Mariners Bell" and go to 'Stonestair Byeway'. From there, go to the sewers. Inside the sewers, navigate to 'South Freeport'. Upon entering South Freeport from the sewers, you will need to step up carefully to the building directly across the manhole cover and verify the patrolling guard on the street here. BEWARE: there are 2 guards in the front of this building so your best bet is to hug the wall and not step out past the burner to the right hand side on the corner of the building and street. Once you learn where the patrolling guard is on the road, and the 2 guards in front of the building it is very easy to know where and when to go across the street. (NOTE: this has been attempted with a level 16 wizard with invisibility. Do NOT rely on invisibility to get you pass the guards!! Invisibility will be detected at this low level)

Once you have verified the patrolling guard and know you can safely pass, run across the street and up the ramp (run across the road to the street sign/burner, turn left..go up..turn right..go up and its right in front of you) to the building above the 'tackle' shop you were just facing. The access is to the lower right. There are no guards up the ramp, once you pass the guard on the main road you are safe. Enter the instance: The FreePort Trooper will ask you for a 'Pass'. Hail the Freeport Trooper and say "Here You Go". He will tell you the captain is to the back. NOTE: none of the mobs are aggro.

Go to the back and left click select the "Militia Captian" (do NOT double click or attack!!) and "Hail" (hit the H key) him. He will initiate dialogue. Tell him "Wait Just a Minute" (telling him "Let's get going right now" will aggro the zone). He will tell you he changed his mind, and tell the guards to attack!! Guess what? They DON'T attack! Do NOT attack them! Leave the room, take a sharp left, another left to go up the stairs and take a right. You will see 2 guards sparring. Select the tree to complete the mission. Make your way back to the sewers. (Thanks Rayx0r for this walkthrough and advice)

The Captain's Ring

The instance to this zone is found on the wall across from the Seafury Bucco's ship in SFP, you will see some crates stacked up like a staircase in front of it. Zone inside and once in pull up an invis. The bartender and one roamer are the only ones to see invis in this zone, wait til the roamer goes upstairs and back down and then go up the stairs. On the first landing of the stairs grab the shovel leaning against the wall. Head up to the garden area up top, go to the one of the corners and dig up a key from the selectable pile of dirt. Now hurry and head back down and wait for roamer to pass you bye. Go into the room and get the signet ring from the armoire behind the captain, zone out and return to Gil for your reward.

(Once you have 10k positive faction with Qeynos you are ready to move on to the next step, return again to Gil)

Becoming a Citizen of Qeynos

Note: You are no longer KOS in Qeynos so just use the front door to get into SQ, the guards will say stuff and harrass you but will not attack.

First off make your way to South Qeynos into the mage tower to talk to Vishra who is just outside the tower (+729, +141). Hailing him completes this quest and now you need to just chat with him to get your next quest, this one has mulitiple correct answers so chose what feels best for you.

The Fufillment of Dreams

1. Vishra will send you to Antonica to pick up garbage on the Antonica highway. Go out there and gather up 30 piles of garbage and then return. They will look like light green goo piles, simply harvest them.

2. Now you must make a donation to the Queen's favorite charity, the Nettleville Hovel Restoration fund. Go to Nettleview Hovel and right across from the bank is Friar Montego (+664, +380). Then return to Vishra for your reward (Reward +3k Qeynos faction)

Quieting Discontent

1. Vishra will then send you to one last instance to kill Grand Inquisitor Te'Lex (just tell him you are ready after accepting the quest). First off kill Acolyte Lin,Val as soon as you zone in, will be an even con mob no arrows. Now Grand Inquisitor Te'Lex will spawn (he is an SK), after you've killed him four times, click on the door to return to Vishra to pick up the final quest!

Freeport to Qeynos-Acceptance

Hail Vishran again, and he will send you to visit your class trainer. Find your class trainer, hail him to become your new class, reset all your spells to app1, and get a respec on your choices.
