Re: State of our Class - Rangers
I dont expect them to change arrow mechanics in truth, it will take a complete revamp of that system and thats gonna be too much work.
I suspect that they will just go for a sticking plaster job and make the Epic summon level 80 arrows and be done with that.
It may not be the solution we all want in long run, but its more practical for now and a lot less hassle.

Re: State of our Class - Rangers
the only problem with just the epic summoning ammo is it doesnt fix the other bow using classes problems with the same issue. Unless they make our summoned level 80 arrows tradeable... /wink
it really cant be that hard to make crafted ferrite level 80 then store bought level 70 so nobody is left without arrows on the way up. So what if their ammo sucks 70-79, not i.

Re: State of our Class - Rangers
The other problem with Epic's summoning arrows, as I have said a few times before, is that only about 10% of all the EQ players will actually finish their epic quest, and notwithstanding that, it's a broader problem than just rangers, it just effects us more because that's the source of nearly all of our dps.

it's expected that people won't finish the quest, that's why it's the epic.
but arrows are bad becuase it's part of my income

Re: State of our Class - Rangers
Tan - I was speaking to some people who wanted epics to summon arrows this morning on the WW channel, and even disregarding the fact that T9 arrows from Ranger epic would solve a lot of our problems and none of the general populace, only about 5% of the people in the WW channel at that time had finished any of the epic quests.
I know I personally will finish the epic quest, I've done every other one but Darathar because I was playing SWG on my Jedi master at the time before they ruined the game with the CU, but that's a discussion for another forum.
Woodworkers should be able to make level 77 Arrows, absolutely, maybe even 80 arrows with rare components, I don't know why they never upgraded the Cobalt Ingot/Cobalt Arrow to be the higher level and better damage arrows, but they didn't and it looks like they got away from that system altogether.

Re: State of our Class - Rangers
I read the an Interview with a dev about the epic weapons. The problem i see with summoning bow. The epic questline is based on two parts. First part is for the legendary version, than YOU HAVE TO GIVE IN the legendary version to an npc for the the fabled version to proceed , second part is raiding for fabled version. What are we going to use in between the second part when we gave in the legendary version, till we get the fabled version. Which would mean, if the epic weapon summon arrows, for the raid part next to no arrows.

That is not a very big problem, lets get some arrows before we start talking about small problems like this :P I doubt it will even work this way, SOD didn't. And if it is going to work this way then summon some DT ammo for the raidpart, or buy some arrows if they implement level 77 arrows or something like that :P

Re: State of our Class - Rangers
I don't see why people are "still" saying woodworkers should be able to make level 77 ammo and "perhaps" level 80 with rare materials. This is not something that should be subject to contention. They absolutely should be able to make level 80 ammo without rare materials. period.
I mean seriously, who wants to buy rares just to perform at the level that is intended? I have no masochistic desires, and I don't think asking for parity is asking for easy mode.
I would even go so far as to say that I hope there are no rare ammo recipes period, because even though it would be cool to see greater +hit/damage/range on arrows, it would eventually become the norm, and fully expected for Raiders...just like rare poisons. I have no doubt that we are balanced around things like use of rare poisons, and not common crafted junk. (in as much as we are balanced period...)
I seriously hope that Rangers are not going to be their own worst enemy, like they were in EQLive.
Merkades, 80th Ranger.
