Ranger epic thoughts and possible lore tie-ins. My Musings.

Now, I've been playing the game for about 10 years through EQ and EQ 2, albeit a brief respite from EQ 1 to play some SWG until CU ruined it and I came to EQ 2 a couple months later.... but alas I digress...

Thoughts about possible tie-ins and general insights to possible ranger epic ideas/locations on where to start looking if they use the old lore.

*Note - I know nothing, this is all entirely a summation of collected knowledge and thoughts on the game, they may not use any of the old lore, asshattery at it's finest, and may curse us all with new "ancient texts."

Epic 1.0 - Started by Telin Darkforest in the Burning wood near the entrance to Skyfire. This could possibly be a new NPC put into the game, probably in or near the Skyfire zone area as a roaming NPC.

Quest featured some foraging (skill that no longer exists, but may require some extensive searching, like 150 statues spread all over every-fuck-where)

This epic quest centered mainly around Venril Sathir and Innoruuk (sp? been a while since I had to type that name).

-Side Thought here - Legion of Danak - The Legion of Danak is supposedly a faction that follows the tenets of Danak - who supposedly BECAME Syllock, the god that they worship. Danak was the original kidnapper of Fironia Vie, on orders from Venril Sathir. (Tie in?)

Epic 1.5

Althele - who we first saw in Epic 1.0, assisted us as rangers again to begin this quest. Is there an Althele in the game yet? Hmm.

Lot's of stupid ass traps, making them, mobs coming out of them.

Finally had to make a treant, stupid as shit, I really don' t think they'll tie this in except for the Althele angle.

Epic 2.0 - Nedaria's Landing NPC - I don't think this will be tied in since Nedaria's Landing isn't really in game / part of an expansion yet - tons of access quests here.

--Off on another tangent--

Since we have seen an incarnation of Mayong Mistmoore several times now, it's not entirely plausable to count him out. 2 Mobs/NPC's that we have not seen yet:

Zato : She was a shapeshifting Dragon that helped the forces of good during the corruption of Faydwer/Felwithe.

Valizrae: Mayong's Right hand, surprised she hasn't shown up yet....

--Another Tangent--

Elddar Grove is a tribute to the greatest forest that ever existed on Tunaria, The Elddar Forest, original home of the Rangers, and covered the entire SE corner of the continent of Tunaria.

Just some of my random thoughts after living most of the lore and playing the game for a long while now, anyone else have any summations and/or ideas?

I dont have the faintest idea. I never played EQ so Im not up on the lore from there. While I want very much for this to be a long, fun and unique chain of quests, puzzles and what not, I doubt very much thats what we'll get. One thing I most definately do not want to do is run around every freaking zone in EQ2 looking for statues, papers, or anything else. I dont care so much if a quest leads to, and through, zones... old world and new. I just dont want to zone to CL, get item, zone to god knows where for the next.

Other then that, Im interested in seeing just what kinda of effects it will have.

yea i never played eq1 either, but form just being a ranger and around people that have played eq1 I would guess tolan darkwood would be involved with it somewhat. thats all i can think of.

I think Tolan Darkwood would be a misnomer on the epics, but again... you just never know.

His armor came out in Kunark as the set pieces versus Cobalt and the other class sets, so there could be some tie in there as well I suppose. I still don't understand why the dragon in the Fallen Dynasty adventure pack, Chel'Drak, dropped Tolan's Darkwood Breastplate. The effect on it in EQ was a gate to Lesser Faydark, and it totally blows in EQ2.

Are there that few people that played a ranger in EQ 1 and are even slightly versed in the lore in any way shape or form?

I played a ranger in eq 1 for year and years. I was a raiding ranger rolling with 72 person raids and am semi up to date on epic lore and such. I am talking 1.0 as after potime i basically gave up on the game bu there have been like 7 expansions since then

I think maybe somehow Karana could be involved. Because the deity timeline is all about rangers. The Prophet is a ranger, npcs are ranger.

Also bear in mind we get a different Epic weapon than the previous ones. So we the quests may be different

I thought Tolans Darkwood Bp dropps of Vennekor in Hos, maybe im wrong.

i played eq1 for like 5 years, my ranger got to about 40.

im interested to see what will be implemented with lore in relation to eq1

Had a 75 Ranger on the Quellious server.

You had to get multiple parts, one from VS and there was something you had to do with earth in Kaladim I believe. Some roaming in the Burned Woods.

You also had to go to hate for some small aspects. It was supposed to be very Karana/Tunare vs. Innoruk. Not sure on which specific good god it was, but thought it was neutral in that aspect.

Tolan Darkwood is in the game, in TG, so maybe he'll have something to do with it.

Also possibly they could replace the PoSky type stuff with KoS aspects. Who knows, it could be like the Epic 2 or something completely different.
