Why are you still raiding on a ranger?
I know we are a sort of a dying breed amongst "hardcore" minded raid guilds. I just wanted to get some other rangers thoughts on why they still play a ranger for raiding when SoE has continued to not fix any of the broken aspects of our class. Before someone jumps my shit about being whiny and blah blah blah, eat a dick, because there ARE broken mechanics/items etc for our class, there is no denying that so pissoff, this thread doesn't concern you.
So how bout it rangers? Within the past couple weeks I've found myself asking why I haven't betrayed, or why I haven't taken up another class as a main. We've been shit on ever since they nerfed us down after being OP during Desert of Flames. Granted, they did make some valuable improvements, but over all, I feel like I've been paying them 15 bucks a month so they can tell me to fuckoff about what we think our class needs/doesn't need.
This question isn't meant for casual or group play. It is meant for people who raid consistantly week in and week out. I love the ranger class in this game and always will, it is a very fun class to play, but the lack of definition of being a "PURE" dps class on raids has really made me think twice on whether I want to continue raiding as a ranger.
Anyone else feel similar? Or do you guys completely disagree?

rangers can still top the parse in t1-2 on basically every fight so i guess i kinda just been raiding to see bigger and bigger numbers in those zones until they fix arrow mechanics

Re: Why are you still raiding on a ranger?
To answer why I don't betray. It's because I know if I betray, I wouldn't have the gear, masters, or skill to parse as high as I do on my ranger. One of the major problems with rangers is hit % and assassins have this same issue, so I see myself losing dps if I were to betray, and thus not helping my guild at all.
I don't switch mains, because the only other lvl 80 I have is a guardian, and not only do we not need a guardian, but hes not geared/mastered enough to even app. I'd rather quit than re roll a toon that the guild needs in hope that I could get to 80 fast enough and app before they recruit someone else playing that class.
The only thing that keeps me from quitting is the small amount of fun I can have in yellow con zones and the fact that I know if and when they fix us, we will be able to parse competitively again. I can say this though, they wont keep me here by dangling a thread of hope in front of me for too much longer.

Re: Why are you still raiding on a ranger?
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "broken" besides the : giving rangers a Agi buff, and no t8 arrows.
however, if you know how to play you class with the options given, you can still hit high parses in orange con raid zones. im not a hardcore raider, given the weakness of certin encounters i am still pretty high on the parse doing 4-5.5k in orange encounter raid zones/mobs (also depending on mob itself).
i honestly see nothing wrong with the ranger class, except what i previously said. if you cant dps, then you suck at your class.

Re: Why are you still raiding on a ranger?
Except that those numbers aren't high enough to make rangers a viable option for a raid. Assassins, sorcerors, and illusionists all perform as well to better and have utility. A ranger being "pretty high" on the parse just isn't good enough for a class that has no utility. Think about it from an economic standpoint. Consider the economic decisions a raid leader has to make.

the other classes arent doing any better than i am in raids. thats why im saying, i dont see anything wrong with the ranger class, its called "working with what you have" and if you cannot do that, then ya. betraying would be the easy way to go about it. or re-rolling

"Working with what you have" is a nice catch phrase, but it has nothing to do with the underlying deficiencies of the class. If you had better players playing those other dps classes, or if you looked at and talked with people in various guilds about parses, you would see the problems. Betraying or re-rolling isn't the "easy way out", it's the sensible, improving-the-raid way out (assuming fixes aren't inc).

Re: Why are you still raiding on a ranger?
Well I play a Ranger cause I love what it stands for. I like the class alot, Yes, mechanics are fucked, and the devs could give a shit less about us.
I raid 5-6 days a week. I get into EVERY raid for my DPS. The fact that im guild leader doesnt hurt either :P but I won't even consider betraying, for any reason.. I have a few alts high lvl but screw that they are ALTS....
