Remember originally items had levels and cons when compared to the character. The lower level the item was compared to the player, the worse and worse it would start performing. By making two levels, an equip able level and a computation level, some items (legendary, fabled) would be viable longer than others.
So having a fabled bow coded as lvl 74 and not the equip able level of 70 does make sense in that case.
Of course, the system has changed, but the underlying database structure would still be there.

I doubt that RSB is the only item out there coded like this. Most of the raid items in EoF are probably coded this way. How else can they create new and better items for an expansion that doesn't raise the level cap.

Difference bewteen the melee weapons and the bows is from bows using ammo and that ammo lowering the level of the bows effectiveness. So in effect the RSB even in EoF was not working as intended and at the same level as the melee weapons. Based on Aeralik's comment on the ammo change that it will be effective to +5 levels over the cap they are making the new ammo so it will work correctly on these type of items. So next time there is an expansion with no increase in the level cap they can make higher level items like RSB and you won't see the reduction in actual damage currently seen on it. For once they seem to being planning ahead to avoid these issues which is nice to see.

The whole comment about making changes to proc mechanic's scares the shit out of me though. I have vivid memories of the last time they did that and how out of touch they were on where ranger DPS came from. I'm sure all old time rangers will remember that famous quote from Blackguard "There is no way that 50% of ranger DPS comes from poison proc's".

I won't expect some new group or raidbuff added to the rangers, since no predator or rogue does have that sort of utility.

Well, in regards to parsing in a raid....I am usually in the top 5 or 6, in the parses. The Swashy that we have, is ALWAYS at the top of the parse, with the exception of a Wizzy going balls to the wall, every so often during a raid. I am usually topped out by the Swashy, then a few mages, a Brigand, then me....If I'm lower then that, then I know that my poisons have worn off, and I need to reapply them. If I'm actually at the top of a Parse, it's a fluke...usually, because we are fighting something that stuns and/or fears, and I manage to resist more often then anyone else. So, I agree that if we are suppose to be able to consistantly top out on the parses, then I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong? I don't have the "best" equipment going....yet. But, I do have a lot of nice gear. I've even gone so far, as to hit up the wall by Tabernacle of Pain, and see what combinations yield the highest DPS...and even with that, it's not a true test, seeing as how, my DPS also fluxuates depending on the group makeup I'm in at the time.

There are many things I feel they could make minor changes to, that would help us out, without swinging us out of balance. 1. Make our HO's so that we can acutally run one, ranged. 2. Give us our Master Strikes at Range. These are two minor examples, that I feel could benefit us. I would love to go to San Diego, and sit with the Dev's, and show them the reality of our class vs. what they think we are capable of.

Now that everyone in my guild have their mythicals I'm starting to reevaluate the problems with my DPS. I'm starting to think my biggest issue comes from the bias given on double attack. Just self buffed I know our assassin has more crit/double attack/ca damage then I can get. Grouped it only increases the difference. The new Rapidity buff, mystic mythic, trooper boots, new avatar item (no one has this yet) all just add and add to this imbalance with there 2 to 1 ratio of melee vs ranged double attack.

And lets not forget the range limitation on alot of these effects. Sure they increased the range of Rapidity to 35m for the next GU. But that don't mean jack on multiple encounters in VP which force you to be beyond that range. Unless of course your lucky enough to convince your group to watch where your at and stay close (I'm never that lucky).

If I got the same bonuses that the melee's get and never lost them do to oversized mobs I think I'd be able to keep up with the assassins and mages. Unfortunately right now thats not the case and I can't. Mythic bow has narrowed the gap but the gap is definitely still there.

I was in a mage group and was in the process of convincing them to find a middle ground between where I had to stand and where the mobs were, most notably on Phara Dar. However that was some time ago.

I remember the retardedness that was proc's with ranged weapons from back in the day heh. Triple arrow with poisons on was awesome to watch heh, I'd love to see something like that again.
