Hey everyone,

Im starting up EQ2 again after a long break, and my friend is going warden. im considering either ranger or a swash, and was wondering if you guys had some good thoughts / considerations i should know of considering the changes that have happend that you could let me in on. we plan to get on a pvp server so making a good combo for pvp is also a primary concern.

my thinking is that a ranger might be better with a warden in pvp because once the warden roots it would be easier for the ranger to sit back and use ranged attacks, and also because ranger has an attack which weakens target vs fire, and warden has a fire attack (or does it count as magic when coming from a warden)?

Just want an overall overview of things along these lines to consider. thanks everyone!

Go Swash. Don't assume it is always going to be your duo versus 1 person.

Swashy can attack at point blank range has reach, a taunts(more if spec'ed into it), and better defensive ability.

If you are a ranger, a tank will have an easier time locking you down in your duo and you will have no way to protect your warden.

Plus as a swash you can tank heroic content and duo most content easily with your warden friend. In contrast to trying to kite shit in small areas.

what do you mean when you say a ranger can be more easily put on "lock down"? you mean a tank could keep me stunned more?

but if i have a stun attack, and the warden can root, i could prolly get off just as much DPS with my bow it seems like.

also a ranger can do more against others with root, since he can still shoot at the casters with his bow attacks, while a swash wouldent be able to do as much dmg from ranged right?

Kradun

Lock Rangers only get 2 detarget skills, while swashes get 2 and one that procs off attack.

Stuns are rather short in pvp. Roots can be cured, then immunity to root applies.

Swashes get reach which improve the distance of the Combat Arts.

Krake

Swashies have taunt to protect the warden!! I don't know how useful the swashy mez is in pvp but could potentially be huge.

The warden has AE root immunity and AE heals with rather short range and the swash will run out of range of those AEs less than the ranger who will probably try to all the time.

Should be close to a perfect match. In low level pvp it's a fantastic duo as well (I have played warden in one).

Pryz

Negative. Unless you plan on being a little fame farming faggot duo your better off picking a rogue class for better group pvp potential. Plus if you ran against a brig/warden or swash/warden duo you'd get wrecked.

Yea I can definitely say rogue ( swash or brig ) + warden duo is much more effective then ranger + warden duo.

Both in pve and pvp.

With a brig your looking at massive defensive debuffs + good player control ( stuns, roots, snares ) + solid utility like group stealth, safehouse etc.

With a swash your looking at the ability to nullify most ranged based attacks ( reach ), being able to self haste and dps urself well above 100 solo, hurricane, dehates + dehate procs, and all around solid utility like the brig.

Anyway you look at it the ranger just does not offer more in this case, that is unless like pryz said, you plan to farm ( suck dick ) all day.

I can say right now that all of these things you guys are talking about, except for maybe the tanking, can be done by a Ranger. Swashies may have better tanking ability, but that's not everything in the world.
