Default Auto attack question

I have recently begun raiding w/ my ranger (yeahhhhh my mystic finally gets benched).

The question I have is: Is there a way to show how long it is until the next auto - attack on our bow goes off. Prophet UI reborn does not show the "re-cast" timer for auto-attack. And i am going batty trying to count in my head...auto-attack..1 2 3 4 .. auto-attack (with ca's in between of course).

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I continually miss an auto attack and this is killing my parse (currently at 2000 dps).

And if this solution has been posted prior to this please direct me to that post

Using ACT to time auto-attacks
Crit vs. DA vs. CA vs. DPS

Both useful.

From what I gathered this is not what he is asking. He wants to have a notification go off when his AA goes off. This is most easily done using regex in your ACT.

Dantel supplied the right links.

Just to clarify here, you realize that this statement is about as misleading and incorrect as saying Rangers can wear plate armor, right?

Regardless of whether you trigger the command to auto attack, there is still the delay of your bow to wait for, so putting /auto2 after each CA does not = an auto attack after each CA.

I think the comment more is about how when you use melee CAs, you want to switch right back to ranged auto-attack ASAP.

I hope so ><
but just as easy to put your ranged button on your hotbars and add to the rotation after your melee CAs

"Just as easy" is all well and good if you're in a zone with no lag, but that rarely happens to any raid I've ever been on. Changing all my non-stealth melee attacks to be macros with /autoattack 2 in them was one of the best things I did to increase my DPS.

Exactly what I did, however that's not to say it's the wrong method.

Whichever way you choose, make sure you're still timing auto-attacks. To say you never miss an auto-attack is a true statement, because they will always go off. However, you will be delaying them, and this is what everyone means by missing an auto-attack. For instance if your order goes:
AA-CA-CA-CA-CA-CA-AA
then you do less dps than timing at:
AA-CA-CA-CA-AA-CA-CA

Neither order misses an auto-attack but the first delays his by several seconds, which would drop your overall dps.

Also about the lag, check what settings you're playing the game under. I never had an issue with lag because I did everything I could to ensure I would have none (beyond ISP crap). This means turning off all player names, turning off particle effects, playing on the lowest video settings possible, etc.

Play with pretty settings in a group, but play with the best gameplay settings when you raid and everything will be kosher.

Even the pickles.

I can actually directly correlate button lag on raids to how many guilds are doing a particular raid instance at any given time.

When 4-5 guilds at once are doing Korsha, for example, nearly everyone in our raid gets some bit of lag. If we start late, though, and guilds start to filter out of the zone before us, the lag starts to dissipate and eventually disappear completely.

I wish just having a decent computer and connection, and turning down settings to MIN (which I do plenty of) was enough to completely eliminate raid lag, but it's not.

And the macro situation isn't perfect, either, especially with lag. Sometimes the melee CA will turn OFF ranged auto by accident, although this is generally more rare.

I definitely still keep my ranged auto button in the #1 spot on my bar, as for nothing else it's an indicator that it's on, but I definitely find myself having to use it sometimes.
