casual Ranger pwnage, PvE

I enjoy the occasional duel with my Ranger on PvE, and was just curious to see how many other do it, how successful they are and what classes they have troubles with. I'd consider myself an expert PvE duelist, and have a couple for my list of hardest classes. I'd be happy to give advise for other classes people have trouble with and all the possible scenarios with each AA build...

Bruiser - the drag / stun immunity is tricky to get by, but with the graphics turned up you can actually see the instant cast of the drag ability and can use the Evade spell, w/e the lvl 70-80 one is called.. to make them lose target and get right back into stealth / kitting while you burn the stun immunity.

Shadow Knight - the biggest thing for me is my DPS vs their wards. If you can pump em' full of arrows (via fabled / mythical bow) then they cannot last long enough to keep gaining the health back. but when it comes down to it the offensive SK's are the hardest because of the ward they cast b4 duel starts, and the in-betweens during the fight. note that the skelly summon is easily avoidable as long as you aren't one to worry about using the stealth abilities to make them lose target.

lastly,
Swashbuckler - the DPS they can pump out within a 4 second period is immense. the only other ways of counteracting them is if they dont use reach, get the FUCK away from them using sprint during the duel, while kitting (all duration buffs going). If they use reach, the best bet is to get into stealth and deaggro the hell outta them so you can get your Cheap Shot off first and then wail (usually causing their death within the time period of Cheap Shot to Point Blank Shot to Hawk Summon to Evade). If they like to stealth before the duel starts, just pray you're far enough away because stealth won't help you when they see you. So either be cheap with see stealth totems, or just pray.

Being a pvp ranger, a lot of dps in pve /duels are not nerfed. so if u catch someone in range, its over in like 2 seconds. Not a lot ( I know there is a few who can) of people can heal thru a pve duel. On pvp however it sucks fighting a healer :P.

Sk's in pvp are scary too, lol. THeir damage shield specced right can keep up
Bruisers, never really had an issue, I get dragged, pop my 3 deagros, toss a bird on them.
Swashy's drop a trap, stand back and the majority of them run into it. start with rope shot, if their not stamina specced, I can drop them before they get to me. If they are, its a long battle.

hi sabien. remember that one time we wiped a full darkhand grouped in kos on the building? does that make us expert pvpers, like the expert pve dueler above?

Nah he isnt the worst ever. I remember me and a necro back in the exiled days used to do the same thing. We would stand on the building I would use Rain of Arrows, and he would use his aoe dot and people would drop out of the sky. I think his name was Nael. I guess it's safe to say after that day, I could group with anyone. Unfortunately with T8 pvp being the way it is, I spend most of my time evac'ing from x4's.

PvE ftw, but, meh, maybe ill get into PvP... i enjoy the whines and cries of the PvE'ers more i think =)

I remember when I was on pve, I would fight people on SS docks and hear them cry about, "Oh you HT'ed me, thats unfair".

I think I enjoy pvp more. It's funny to watch people camp after u beat them, just for them to log onto a Q toon to complain for 30 minutes about how op'ed the ranger class is. Then the next day logging on a message board and seeing "How much does Sabien suck" as a topic. It has never personally happened to me, but man, pvp whining > pve whining.

As far as rolling on a pvp server, if u roll a ranger, remember you will be severely nerfed in the dps category. For instance, Focus Aim is totally removed from pvp combat. Stealth Shot, Sniper Arrow, Shower of Arrows do not do half the damage it does on pve.

yet to find to find a challenge @ SS docks - Befallen Ranger, CMON!
